I'm not sure about where to add this, we have *So Many* threads on the Vista install...
but what the hell, we all have to learn how to search
Decided I didn't want to drill (tried that on my st1300 and it was a nightmare getting the vista to work properly... maybe I can't see straight or sumpin?)
anyway, my understanding the way these are suppose to work is to *not* have them be really rigid, they should have a little movement to allow for the "snap back" of the throttle never being bound up... but of course they need to have a solid "base" to go up against to lock the throttle.
So here's a pic of my solution:
It's just a little bracket, fashioned out of sheet metal, and glued on with 3M trim tape. The Vista has a little play to avoid binding, but is very solid when engaged. I got quite a bit of the bracket surface to mate with the cable housing, but honestly it's a time consuming pain. Really wish Yama Mama would make that area flat or something, not rounded with a ridge in it.... sheeesh.
but it seems to be working fine none the less. Keep in mind the more surface of the bracket you get touching the better, of course. Eventually I'll use some touch up paint to make it blend in a little better. Enjoy.
Couple quick additional thoughts:
It would really be cool if some enterprising machine shop were to make some little brackets like this and include a strip of 3M tape too! They could tool a machine and probably stamp out a few 1000 so easily...
Also, if the 3M tape doesn't hold well, I'd be happier to drill a hole in the bracket and attach it what way, then the vista would still have the play, would be easily replaceable etc etc.
