    Road Noise

Been riding an FJR since 2002 and have never noticed that problem but I've also had a Fenda Extenda on both of my bikes. Also cuts down on spray and crap hitting the radiator.

    Bought a Penske Rear Shock

I doublechecked and it's actually a 750# spring. I'm around 240# gear on. I had discussions about this with Lee at Traxxion and my feedback to him was that it's doing exactly what I had hoped. I don't ride two up anymore and I've never had it bottom out despite the marginal roads.

    Bought a Penske Rear Shock

Traxxion rebuilt mine and in my case, they recommended a heavier spring, an 800# vs, the 700# on the shock. I opted not to do that change as I wanted more compliance to handle the winter ravaged roads here in Ontario. They set up the valving for me and it matched my requirements exactly as...

    Signalling Fuse

The other aspect to this that no one else has mentioned is that intermittent heavier current draws like that for the horns will take a toll on the horn switch itself. Putting in a relay eliminates the impact on the horn switch and pretty much eliminates the likelihood that you hit the horn...

    Wrist pain after 3 hours

What he said. You need to get a lot more miles on the bike before you go experimenting with bars and such. You have some bar and seat adjustments already available to you. Try them as you work on improving your riding position. The FJR seating position is so significantly different from a...

    ABS rear brakes engaging

What he said! They also can create their own check valve stopping fluid from returning. More common with cars.

Brakes lose pressure if you do not ride for a while?

I had the same soft rear brake issue for years. Had the dealer work on it and they even replaced the rear master cylinder which was a wasted effort. I heard about the weight left on the brake pedal, I used a piece of railway track hung off a bungie cord, and found that it worked. My current...

I'm looking for a diagram showing the "rider triangle" or "motorcycle triangle" for the FJR.

One can always move the seat to its upper position which can make a big difference. When I had my seat customized, an extra bit of rise was added then as well which works for my 32"inseam and 6' 3/4" height. Never bothered on moving the handlebars on my GenII but had a set of Meissner fully...

    Givi 58 Top Box

Jeff, enjoy your new ride. My Givi 46L has been on 2 FJR's since 2003 and it only comes off when I wash the bike. My wife wanted the security of a backrest that the Givi provided and the added capacity certainly helped when carrying gear for two. She no longer rides with me so my riding is all...

    Fjr forum newbie

Loved my very early '03 Gen1 delivered in July '02. With help from my dealer's head mechanic, I had the valves replaced twice by Yamaha. Second time around, they put in newer valve seals which solved the problem. I crossed paths with a couple other cases at rallies but wouldn't have said that it...

Where to Put Straps on Bagster Tank?

OK, that looks familiar. They changed the cover on the gen II version so that strap that goes under the screw is no longer used. It's replacement is a bit farther forward, angles away from the vertical and hooks under the tank. I never had any issue with the screw pulling through on my '03. If...

Where to Put Straps on Bagster Tank?

I'm like Bounce, my memory just isn't that good regarding the Bagster I had on my '03. I just don't recall any screws to remove or holes in straps. How about a photo or two? I have one on my 2008 as well and maybe I can compare the two. There's a strap under the tank at the back by the seat that...

    FJR Forum Decal design

I'm with garauld. Less cartoonish, lose the topbox and somehow define it as a Yamaha FJR and not just another sport tourer.
