    Cracks in the Aft SubFrame

I tested the light on another trailer and worked fine (in the short test, at least)

    Cracks in the Aft SubFrame

Total weight is under 12 lbs. It can be disassembled at the two bolts on the coupler plate L side for tire replacement. That was a big consideration since I do my own tire changes. I had already spliced into my taillight wiring for the brake light modulator and have lots of experience doing...

    Cracks in the Aft SubFrame

Nice setup, looks like you used the back end of a motorcycle and attached at the rear tire axle. Steel or Aluminum for the hitch?

    Cracks in the Aft SubFrame

Wiring under the seat is complete, just need to split loom and tidy up the wires running down to the coupler.

    Cracks in the Aft SubFrame

Here's the "finished" hitch. Short test ride with all suspension on soft and not interferences. Tested with bike on side stand and weighting the back (and bouncing), no issues. Using a 1 7/8" ball for now, since need to ride to pickup the trailer and it currently has a ball coupler. I'll...

    Cracks in the Aft SubFrame

At least a couple of times, I've taken short trips with lots of weight in the top box. Generally, on the longer road trips, it's just clothes and laptop.

    Cracks in the Aft SubFrame

Yeah, didn't know about those until recently. That GIVI design is clever and certainly solves the issue by increasing the bending stiffness of the tail.

    Cracks in the Aft SubFrame

No, the angle of the photos don't show the clearance.

    Cracks in the Aft SubFrame

Getting the vertical supports to clearing the side bags and rear tire has been the most time consuming part.

    Cracks in the Aft SubFrame

Here are some photos of trailer hitch fabrication. Still need to disassemble, fully weld and paint, but gives a rough idea of the structure.

    Cracks in the Aft SubFrame

While getting bike ready for addition of trailer hitch, I notice cracks in the aft frame supporting the top bag. I believe this is a common problem. I'll TIG weld these up and lighten the load on the top bag. Fortunately, I've purchased a CM-1000 motorcycle trailer, so I am adding a trailer...

    New Michelin Road 6 GTs

Just did 450 miles on my new Road 6s. Handling is great, much improved over my very worn out (11,600 miles) Road 4 prior set.

Both headlights, at the same time?!

Pretty common for both headlight low beams to go out about the same time. No matter what bulbs I use, seem to need replacing every 2-3 years.

    Broken part confirmation

Yeah, very common to break the aluminum casting there whenever the bike comes down on the mirrors when dropped. As mentioned above lots of "fixes". If you can TIG weld the aluminum, that is best. Otherwise, JB weld and zip ties works fine.

    Painting the tank trim

Finally got around to fixing the paint damage to the side bag and fairing. Used Colorrite's paint code 0918. It's a three part paint, with silver base, color top coat and then clear. Required lot's of light coats of color to match factory. Covered the new paint with 3M paint protector after...

    Painting the tank trim

yeah, results of being rear ended at a stop light, shoved halfway into the intersection and dropped it on right side. No serious injuries, but bike rear frame had to be replaced and put some of insurance money into the crash bars instead of replacing the side hard case.
