FJR1300A from £ 13,699.00
FJR1300A GT:

FJR1300AE:

FJR1300AS:

The highly advanced FJR1300AS is like nothing else. And what sets it apart is its electronic clutchless gear shift system that allows you to change gear with your left foot or thumb without using the clutch lever. Which means less effort and more enjoyment on every ride.
This sophisticated long-distance motorcycle is also equipped with the latest electronically-adjustable suspension system featuring upside down forks - allowing you to modify your preload and damping settings at the flick of a switch.

So, we have :

  • The "A" as always - the same name both sides of the pond
  • The "A GT", which is an "A" but £1000 worth of goodies thrown in for free - not currently offered in the USA (but you can buy all the extras)
  • The "AE" which is an "A" but with the upside-down forks and electrically adjustable suspension - known as the "ES" in the USA
  • The "AS" which is the YCC-S - USA: currently unavailable, was known as the "AE"

Incidentally, if I convert £ to $ (based on today's conversion rate of $1.70 to the pound), I get:

£13699 = $23266

£14499 = $24625

£15399 = $26153

(UK prices include all sales taxes, pre-delivery and 600 mile services, two years manufacturers warranty. There may be something like £100 to add for registration and stuff.)

So, yes. But I'd still rather have the FJR with fewer reliability issues and the YCC-S option.

The AS comes with the electrically adjusted suspension as standard, no offer for the "free touring extras".

Somewhat off topic but in snowmobile lingo POLARIS stands for Pull Off Lake and Repair in Summer.

 
And still, they don't build a Gen.III with the features that would convince me to replace my Gen.I:

The FJR1300A with inverted forks, sans electronic adjustment (unnecessary complexity and price for me), but with both forks containing dampers and springs.

I'd rather get my suspension dialed for my needs in the aftermarket, save weight and save the complexity (and additional opportunity for problems and their attendant need for expensive service).
