Penn-Run Group Meet/Ride Mem-Day Wknd '15

Yes, it's early to start planning?
BUT... this Group Gathering and Ride is on a Holiday Weekend!, rooms go fast and I have pre-arranged a group rate 15% discount! (which normally you will never get on a Holiday Weekend, at least in this cool & quaint town).

In a nutshell, same as last years event (due to popular requests). Lodging NOTE: they also own/run the old Penn Wells Hotel as well, but w no parking, old rooms etc. So don't book in the hotel building, book in the lodge using the "Top Speed Group" discount code.

So, get your reservations in early!
I have a block of rooms reserved at the Penn Wells Lodge, Sat & Sun nites. You could also add Friday night if you wish, myself however; I will follow suite from last years meet and do just Sat & Sun nights, say adios on Monday/Memorial Day. The block of secured rooms ends 4 weeks prior to May 23. Being the Holiday Wknd, the Penn Wells Lodge always sells out way in advance anyways.

When: Sat 5/23, Sun 5/24 (Memorial Day Weekend) - w Checkout Mon 5/25. (Minimum stay is 2 nights including Sun nite, you "could" add more at the same discounted rate).
Who: Anyone w 2 wheels and interested! 2up or Stag, doesn't matter. No stick-in-the-muds or troublemakers. Any loud pipes?; we just ask that they go to the rear of the ride group. Bike brand doesn't matter either, majority last year was FJR's & K16's, a couple of HD's and Kawi Connies.

Why: Group Meetup and Ride
Reservations: Call 570-724-2111 (cannot book discounted TSG rate online).
Rate: $99.95/nite booked under "Top Speed Group" (you need to mention this when making your ressie, and confirm that you are in"the Lodge" section. Credit Card secures the room only, no pre-charge authorization.
Cancellation Policy: I arranged a very generous 24 hrs prior (to check-in if booked by my group code). Normally, Holiday Weekends are 1 Week!
Accommodations: Economy Rooms (most are 2 Queen beds). Rooms open to a large (perfect) Parking lot. Great for our Social hours and Tire-Kicking sessions!. Hotel has an indoor pool, jacuzzi, gym etc. Breakfast is included (free) Monday morning but not on Sunday (upcharge) or... Wellsboro Dinner across the street and seemed to be a hot spot last year prior to the Sunday "Day Ride".
Rally/Meet Fees: None. ($0) It's very laid back, just show up, do what you want, when you want.
Food Porn: Hotel of course -or- as most of us did last year, Wellsboro has a bunch of really great pubs and restaurants right across the street from our hotel!. The town is quaint, quiet (sorta) and has all the amenities.
Happy Hour: One reason why Wellsboro got (re)selected was everything is within a block or two of walking. Our happy-hours will start in the parking lot daily around 5pm. When your hungry, just walk xcross the street! Social Hour Note: Beer & Liquor store is about a 1/2mi up the street, plan ahead and load up that topcase!, your room has a refrigerator!.

I will again have an organized group(s) ride on Sunday 5/24, split up into groups according to desired speed/pace. The planned route will be similar to last year (~250mi.), but with a couple of different twists. Plan on a whole day w photo-op stops, and of course your lunch. Ride departs/KSU @ 9am from the Penn Wells Lodge Parking lot. I will post here the .gpx route, and I will also need some group leaders to hopefully volunteer? (post here if you can lead a group). Ideally 5-6 in a group works well, a few more may work only b/c traffic is far and few between in these necks. Last year, I was sluggishly leading all 18 bikes to our 1st vista photo-op stop. I did get groups going from there, but hopefully we can have this pre-arranged this time.

Hey KJ! I'm in. I'll probably bring my son along this time. We rode down to the Dragon last fall and had a great time. We stopped in to the EOM while traveling thru the area, but you were out riding. Who woulda thunk it?

Pretty sure Laura said we need to do this again, so we're in! Might even turn it into a full vacation (head somewhere afterwards). Not sure of that yet.

Haven't talked it over with SWMBO yet, but I would figure that as the case. I'll have to come up with another route for us down to Wellsboro. Good thing I have plenty of time to plan! Of course, I seem to be the sort that procrastinates/forgets until the last minute, so we'll see how it works out!

Yepper, I'm at least coming in on Saturday. Hope to have a loop route to extend in my otherwise only 1.5hr ride-in. I'd like to be able to meet n greet folks in the parking lot around 3 or 4, on Sat... and yep, w a beer in hand most likely!

So make your ressie for Sat & Sun nites, depart on Monday (Mem Day). Mike & LAura may extend this into a vacation, I can't however, I'm trying to save up my time for the July Wyoming/Montana 2 week venture.

Liana & I are booked for Saturday & Sunday night. When I called I got the Hotel, so be sure to ask for the lodge when booking, (We found out the hard way last year!) They also wanted to charge me 119/night not 99.95 when i asked why I was told it was KJ's slush fund. When I asked if it would cover it she said only if they received a minimum of 10 bookings

*Reminder*

When you book, you need to mention this is a group booking under "The Top Speed Group". Yes, good to verify if it is in the Lodge as well as I found out also (last year), they like to get you into the older Hotel Part.

When they book you in this group, it should automatically go to the Lodge. BUT!, Good to confirm this with them at the booking time!

KJ, I posted on the Ohio Ramble tread about Chris and I going on our first ride with you guys in Parkersburg, WV. With a daughter in middle school, it is easier for us to schedule a trip for the end of May.

So our plans to ride together are intact, just the venue has changed.

We are now planning on meeting you and the group going to PennRun15 in Wellsboro, PA.

Looking forward to this, and thanks for taking the time to organize these events! Steve

Lot's of greatness in both meets (as I previously mentioned on the SE-Ohio Ramble possible location thread).

Since this has only a one day (of organized rides), and you can ad-lib of course!. But, along with the quaint town as our wheels-notta-rolling playground? ...This is probably the best couples meet anywhere of any that I've attended. Especially, if you want to "take it easy" on her. Besides the single day ride, this has been deemed by a few other couples (last year) as "a couples get-away weekend". It wasn't for me however as I attended stag, I still enjoyed all the peeps, socializing and of course the ride.

Okay, maybe, just maybe I have been to 'one' better meet/ride for couples but that was snowmobiling up in Old Forge NY. But then again, that town is quaint as heck as well. So.... ya get'n the common denominator?
