Ok, here it is in a nut shell....

I have a new 07' and to break her in right, I'm taking a cross country trip to the Grand Canyon. I've begun to farkle her up and in doing so, I've purchased the Wild Bill Highway Mount. I'm just not crazy about his peg options.

Therefore, to remedy this, I was hoping that a Kuryakin adapter would enable me to attach one of our Yammie's OEM footpeg to Wild Bill's mount. Before I spend the additional moolah I called Kuryakin and asked their rep - - who wasn't much help because he didn't know. Can anyone here confirm if I can?

Better yet, it would be great if you could post a picture of your Wild Bill peg set-up for everyone else to see and use. (Garauld posted his in a previous post).

Thanks in advance...

Here are a couple pictures of mine:

My setup is the same as FuzzyRiders. Those aren't the OEM Yammie pegs you were asking about on the offset mounts.

I'm not 100% sure what your idea was, but if the plan was to save a few bucks by, say, moving the passenger pegs to the offset mounts, it would probably work. The only question is whether the diameter of the hole is large enough for the bolt on the Kuryakyn clevis. Worst case scenario, I think, is that you'd have to bore that out a bit, but I don't really know.

Oh, and to attach the Kuryakyn offset mounts to Wild Bill's plate, you have to bore out that hole a bit, too. But that's pretty soft aluminum and any home drill can do that job.

I was planning on getting an additional set of OEM pegs and mounting them to Wild Bill's aluminum mount. The only problem is that I need some type of an adapter to combine the two. I'm hoping that there is an adapter out there (i.e. Kuryakn or the like) with out having to have one fabricated.

Is the offset mount you guys are using model/part #7996? Have you ever had a problem with them scraping while leaning (they don't look like they would scrap unless you were in to a pretty steep lean)?

Yes, that's the part. And the pegs (at least mine) are #8000. The don't scrape if they're pointed forward as in FuzzyRider's photos, at least they don't scrape before your regular pegs do. I haven't touched them down yet. I had my pointed down for bit -- make that one commute. I scraped 'em easily that way. FWIW, my pegs are set up to fold straight back instead of up like FuzzyRider's.

An adapter that goes straight on to the Will Bill's mount would look like the stirrup shaped part of the offsets. Kuryakyn calls that a clevis. I don't know if they sell that separately with a bolt straight out of the end. And, again, I don't know if the diameter of the hole in the OEM pegs fits the pin in the Kuryakyn clevis.

Yeah, I actually changed the angle they fold up after I took that picture. Now mine fold up and back at the same angle as the rider's pegs.

FuzzyRider,

What is your inseam length? Like the looks of your setup and thinking of adding it.

Does the oil filter come off without removing the peg bracket?

Roy

I have the same set up as Fuzzy's except I had them powder coated in gloss black. IMO best to use the Kuryakan Iso-Pegs as they are more comfortable than stock. These pegs allow alot more room and combinations for different off-sets and other Kuryakan pegs can be used as well. And folded up I've had no touch downs. Also I use the long oil filter and it does come off w/o removing the peg mounts. PM. <>< :D

An added word... please tell this guy about mounting these in the correct configuration. I know a rider that had these & not only did he touch down, he low sided because the peg lifted him off of the ground.

I've heard that there is a right & wrong way to mount these. Perhaps telling this person the right way may help him?

Can you elaborate on the right way, and the wrong way? I have mine set up the same way as shown in the photo above.

TriggerT,

What diameter hole did you need to drill for mount the Kuryakyn extenders?

Roy

DAMN, good question. It has been several months now. I THINK it was 1/2", but I wouldn't bet more than $0.05 on it. I remember drilling the holes on my drill press, since the aluminium cut like butter, but I can't remember for sure what the diameter hole was. Sorry. If you really need me to check, I could find out later today.

I can't remember exact size's either, but I know when I ordered the Kuryakyn setup I didn't have to drill any holes as there are two sizes. I believe I used the smaller size pegs/off-sets that were not 1/2" that fit the Wild Bill plate. And yes, be careful when in twisty road conditions to fold up the pegs as it could very well be a hazard. PM. <>< ;)

Thanks PM. It sounds like the aluminum is soft enough that my regular drills will work.

Totally agree about folding them up in the twisties. The only time I extended my pegs on my Roadstar was on straight highways or freeways.
