Seeking interest from you folks about doing a 4 to 5 day tour around CA in the summer and majority of riding done on secondary roads. Concept is to start possibly at Death Valley and go eith CW or CCW to all corners of CA. Appz distance IIRC is about 2500 miles total. Would expect to make it a flower sniffing tour with frequent stops for photo ops and rest stops, eats, etc. I am aking for interested folks to contact me with thoughts and suggested dates. I was thinking about perhaps doing it around WFO5 dates either before or after so as not to interfere with an events or plans that the WFO committee has planned.

Please contact me at turbodave_98ATmsnDOT com

Thanks in advance. :assasin:

Early July would work best in case I can make it and it might not be quite as hot as late July. Sounds like a great trip!

I might pick you up as you get further North. Depends on your route of course. but if start South East and come up the east side, then go back South on the West side that would be cool, we could meet somewhere near Mammoth. Sounds like a cool ride. Let us know about your route ideas!

Sounds like a fun. I may not be able to make the entire trip but I'd definitely be interested in joining the southern swing for a few hundred miles or so. Keep us posted.

Like O'vale, and depending upon calendar commitments, I might be interested in meeting up between Mammoth and Tahoe for a ride north on the east side, across the top and back south along the coast to the Bay area or thereabouts. Yreka to Eureka along the Klamath River on 96 is a killer route to include!

Dave, I'd like nothing better ! And I should be able to do the entire trip.

I can do it the week before WFO-5 or the week after -

And of course I need to have my bike by then - minor detail !! :D

Sounds like a fun. I may not be able to make the entire trip but I'd definitely be interested in joining the southern swing for a few hundred miles or so. Keep us posted.
Ditto. Thanks

So here is the planned route, Dave can chime in on the dates, start/end point, planned route per day and I will edit where needed.

SUMMARY

Driving distance: 2589.5 miles

Nice route! You are going to love Hwy 66 from Klamath Falls to I-5. Yeee-freakin'-haw twisty fun. Bluestreek and I rode that way coming back from WFO-4. Do not ride it in the dark!

When you come down the 101 from Santa Rosa, may I suggest taking the Golden Gate (Yes, pay the toll!) and follow the signs to Hwy 1. I think you'd make better time riding Hwy 1 along the coast to Monterrey, even though you have some surface streets in San Francisco and Santa Cruz. Hwy 1 is not twisty along that stretch, just a few sweepers and a gorgeous view of the ocean. You shouldn't have any fog unless its dusk or early morning.

Now you're making me wish I had the vacation time to join in the fun. :(

Well, only 10 weeks or so to start time.

This is just a bump to keep this out in view -

How many of you folks are gonna do this? So far, I know of TurboDave, KaitsDad (me) and Bluestreak - and there's room for more -

Well? Anyone want to ride for 5 days with a rider of TurboDave's caliber and experience?

Wanna learn stuff?

Wanna see this state (and bordering states) unlike you've seen them before?

Hmmmm???? Well ?????

Start point is South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, July 22nd.

End point is WFO-5 on Wednesday, July 26th.
