Evap charcoal cannister on my 06A - California model?

I've just pulled the plastic for the 4th time in 10 months - and that thing is a BLOODY PAIN IN THE A$& !!!

But seriously - in looking at the parts schemas, it would appear that it can easily be removed, and the 49 state T connector be used to join both vent tubes into one. Kinda like the rest of the.... ah....... World?

It looks like all it would take is one of these: 90413-07007-00 WAY 3 U49 (3P64) (from the FUEL TANK fiche)

(And I'd save about 4 pounds of weight - that means I could have a THIRD Macho Burrito at lunch tomorrow.)

(EDIT FEB 03 - THIS IS HYPOTHETICAL !!! If I did this, I'd have to move out of California to be legal.)

I heard Alaska gives you money if you are a resident there. :)

DO IT!

I just had to pay for another tank of heating oil. I'm all for global warming. We need some South Carolina weather in Connecticut.

I have done this in the past on other bikes, but don't even know where it is on the FJR. It must be up front, eh?

Jeff, it's right up front in the bottom of the 'chin' - if you take a horizontal line from the trailing edge of the front fender, it points right to it. It sits right behind the chin piece.

Here's the fuel tank schema from Yamaha -

Zooming in on the cannister rig. The 'highlighted' region pretty much shows all the stuff that would be removed. What this would also do is free up just a bit more space on the left side of engine inside of the frame - and this can be used by a looming run.

The 'TEE' fitting that would need to be installed: (I imagine I could use any TEE fitting - as long as it's capable of handling the environment.)

Erm, because the ice caps are melting and since I live only 7' above sea level, that kinda worries me?
Hey, I'm at 19 feet...once the water line gets close to me I'm gonna be looking for Hal. Oh, never mind, he'll be swimming or trading the FJR for a Personal Watercraft. :yahoo:

You know, if you're gonna slam someone, at least figger out how to use the quote function. Sheesh, you short busers really crack me up! :****:

Thanks for clearing up the placement on the canister, I'm the guy that misread the manual and thought the canister was under the tank. In the spirit of farkling I think you should find alternative uses for the canister. Right next to the pipes, I say put a pipe tap into it and use it to boil water. A spot of tea after a long ride :)

The can is only up in the nose area on the 06 / 07, the previous years it was located between the shock and the motor.

Highlander:

I hear they want to do a sequel of Brokeback mountain using bikes instead of horses. Would your bike be available?

Feel better?
