Okay, this question is probably soooooooooo simple I should be shot. I want to put my ff50's on a circuit all their own so that I can put 'em on when I want and also leave some stuff open for future use.

I was thinking about the Barrier Strip as shown in FJR TECH and using that as my source for the ff50's, or a small fuse block. I was going to use the bosch relay that I have for the switched power off of the front turn signl/running lamp.

Do I still have to use the Hella relay as well, or is that superflous when using switched power?

Is this path a bad idea?

Also, which is + and - on the lights? The diagrams are for auto's and don't tell me **** as to polarity!

I am no electrical genius...but.. Go with the fuse block. I did the barrier strip mod for Honda heated grips, Zumo, radar... It sips juice through a 30 amp relay. It fits nicely under the left side panel.

My issue is every accessory has its own fuse. The fuses are under the seat, just in case. This is manageable but it's a little bit of a rats nest where the fuses are tucked in. I want to add a heated seat pad. one more fuse to stuff in the limited space. The fuse box would have been much easer and cleaner. If one of the little buggers pops ,it will be easy to identify.

Fuse block and definatly run a relay. I run the FF50's also and the draw is enough to wear out standard switch without a relay. Mine are tied into the high beam hot wire for signal power, and into my BlueSea for source power. When I kick on the brights, everything comes on and melts the paint on the cage in front of me :p

So 2 relays? 1 for the fuse box and 1 for the Hellas?
I would. I mean that if you're going to the effort of putting in a barrier strip/fuse box and a first relay triggered by the bike power...you'll find that you'll want to use it for more than just the lights. You can then put a relay in upstream for the Hellas that's triggered off the high beams. I'd probably only bother with one fuse...which would be the barrier strip.

Thanks Iggy, thats what I thought/hoped. Now I just have to get my bike back and a few hours to get it done.

My Hellas came with a relay and fuse in the wiring kit. The relay only lasted about a year before it corroded inside even though it was inside the front cowling next to the mirror mount. I suggest that if you use the Hella relay, or any automotive relay that isn't specifically waterproof, you seal the seams of the relay.
