I also did the 1/4" wire mesh. Purchase a small roll from Home Depot for a few $'s. I made a paper template first for the shape. Cut and spary painted it. I used many small quick ties to hold the mesh in place. Works well.

Nope. GenII radiators are curved, and come with a factory installed guard. I don't know of anyone that makes radiator guards for the GenII.
