Looking for an easy to install cruise control. Anybody have one of these?

My brother has a McCruise on his ST1100 so this isn't apples to apples.

His MC was $$$ more than the AVCC100. Even though his MC CC was a ST model the install was just about equal to the AVCC. In terms of hook up there was little advantage for MC. Within the first year he had a failure. Many phone calls across the Pacific resulted in a diagnosis of a bad relay. Months for a replacement part. Total disassembly to replace the part. Joy, it worked. Then it failed again a few weeks later. More phone calls across the Pacific (his cost, not a 1-800). New diagnosis. Long wait. Significant parts replacement. It works.

When functional it works just as good as the AVCC, I would hesitate to say it works better. In my brother's case I would also say that quality was an issue. The install instructions were definitely better than an AVCC becuse the AVCC is a car unit and the MC instructions were motorcycle model specific. The speed regulation of the MC unit has better potential to match a motorcycle's light weight and high HP.

Some FJR owners have gone the MC way, we are waiting.........

The McCruise (MotorCycle Cruise Control) looks like a repackaged Audiovox CCS-100 Cruise Control to me. The difference as far as I can tell is that the folks at McCruise are opposed to bead chain linkage.

What I want for Christmas is for Yamaha to release a unit as easy as Harley-Davidson cruise control supplied by Delphi Delco Electronics.

If they won't give me that, I'd want a fully electronic cruise control like a Rostra, or an Audiovox 2501316.

I know there is a way to get the right signal from that FJR speedo. I know there is...

I have had the MC cruise for ages and it works fine and has never had an issue with it apart from it works great! I have posted on the subject before here. Tony and his brother aim to please and nothing is too much trouble for them as others who have had any questions/issues will attest.

It''s a very good quality after market unit that is well finished, excellent instructions and a back up service second to none.

Cheers

Thug is also an Aussie which is where McCruise is located. You'd probably be better off with the Audiovox CSS100 which apparently everyone (other than myself who is technologically challenged) has it installed on this forum.

I took the chance and bought one of these for my 06. I'll have it installed by the middle of next week and I'll find out if it was a good decision or not. Will update how it is working when it's in.

I'd be interested if this is a difficult install.

Yeah I only live about 3 hours away from the buggers...

...I'd want a fully electronic cruise control like a Rostra ...
I found a gentleman over at FJROwners.com who installed the Rostra. He answered some questions I had about his install: "I did not think it wise to encourage folks to follow my lead; it was not an easy install and even harder to explain." He also wrote: "...overall, if I had it to do again, I would probably opt to use the cheaper, evidently equally capable cruise control made by Audiovox..."

Anyway, I just thought I'd share what I learned.

Anybody done the MCCruise since the last post? I bought the Audiovox unit but since I live 1600 miles from Smitty and have the mechanical ability of a ...well none, I was looking for something that was more plug and play.
