Considering how much insurance companies would save if all bikes had slliders, wouldn't you think they'd give them away free to every client. Or at least give a discount to people who had them?

:yahoo:

I think they should supply me with sticky tires to keep me from falling off the road............... Swhati Think,, Cheapscates!!

On a slightly more serious note, the insurance companies base rates partly on how much they pay out on claims for a particular model or series. If manufacturers would supply sliders on their bikes then insurance claims would, on average, be smaller and rates might decline.

And why would they do that? If claims are smaller, that means they aren't buying as many parts from the manufacturers. I'm surprised they don't make them more brittle.

And kevlar suits. And gloves, helmets, boots. Yeah, and advanced riding courses.
I'm going to be in Sacramento next week to see a client. I'm thinking of taking the bike up.

If i was going from LAL LA Land to Sacto... You are THINKING about taking the bike........ I been cooped up here in the snow for MONTHS...... You are a lucky boy!! Take the Bike man!!

In the words of a famous shoe "just do it"

As a 22 year veteran of the insurance industry (a broker) never, ever make the mistake of thinkng that an insurance company would use logic in a decision!

They are nuts at times!

Then the next step would be crash bars. And then what "style" of bike. And then horsepower restrictions. And then......mandatory sidecars? Mandatory three-wheeled conveyance? Some sort of roll bar?

Maybe they should just keep their noses out of our business. Like any other well-intentioned authority structure, once they are entrenched, all control and freedom is lost.

The argument to the contrary for free sliders: Maybe owners should stop falling down/over and crashing.

My insurance company just gave me $90 for the on I recently machined off, using the road.

So, at least the replacement is "free".

Funny, a bunch of us are going down to Lancaster this weekend for the Streetmasters cornering workshop, and we're all taking our bikes. Going down the fast way, coming back the scenic way. Matter of fact, if you're coming up about that time, you could meet up with us for the ride north. Should be leaving sometime around late Sunday morning from the motel--guess it's actually in Rosamond. If you're interested, PM me for details.

Doesn't sound like it's going to work out. I'm leaving LA Sunday morning around 9:00, going straight up the 5.
