Personally I think the IBR rules should be followed. It is a very safe, trouble free, & secure way to carry fuel. Solid mount, baffle, & ground strap seem to be simply a safe way to ride . . .

Your going to have a lot of problems transferring fuel from the aux tank to the main tank unless you go with a fuel pump. Some are avidly against using one because it introduces another point of failure. I've never used one to transfer fuel, so I really don't know for sure.

I run a fuel pump on my setup, pick one up at any autoparts store for under $40. In the event of a failure the pump can be changed in minutes.

The advantage is keeping the weight lower on the bike.

Easier getting on and off the bike.

Trunk lid opens fully.

Get a marine grade waterproof switch, available at most Boat Dealers.

"you irritatingly incompetent and infuriatingly unhelpful bunch of twats"

I just noticed this in Odots post. Damn, that's funny.

.........shoulda seen the thread that I copped that off of. That was funny.

Actually, since your tail bag is secured to the bike, that fuel cell would probably work just fine. IBA rules or not, I'd sugest putting the foam in the tank just for the added safety.

Other than that, a wuick connect, a small electric pump and some plumbing and you should be good to go.

The tank / cell comes with foam in it already.

Do we really need to expand on the "Hand Pump" idea? Well, maybe.

Do all passenger seat area fuel cells use a fuel pump? I didn't think the Tangi cell used one.

No, not at all. McAvan, Tanji, and others use gravity.
From what I remember Tanji run his cell with a fuel pump because how low it is. Others, such as Skooter don't, but have to open their transfer valve 50-100 or so miles into their main tank.

My cell is somewhat like the McAvan cell which sits in place of the pillion seat and does a gravity feed to the main tank.

Pictures if you have them please.
No problamo.... here you go:

I designed this *specifically* so the Givi lid would fully open without striking the cell:

And to clear the inboard portions of the GIVI rack:

Capacity is 4.85 gallons. This system was custom-designed by me; I had BLM-Accessories.com fabricate it from my specs and photos only! Cell tankbag by LindaT, of course....

An entire storage area is created under the aux cell, enough for tools, tire repair kit & 12v compressor, a couple HID ballasts... what ever you want to store there! B)

Here are some general concepts for design/placement/construction of a gravity-fed aux fuel cell that I did for my Blackbird, but the concepts apply equally to the FJR.
