The City of Hollister did that a few years ago - kinda. You remember Hollister, the place were that famous staged Life photo of a drunken rider? Well, the organizers took it private (out of the city's hands) and it's back on again.

There's always a work-around (or is that, reach-around?).

Although it does not involve motorcycles, Lake Havasu is doing their best to scare away the very blood that sustains their existence. It seems like every time you turn around, the city is announcing additional rules to prevent people from having a good time on the lake. It does not make sense for any town or city to attempt drive away the very income that keeps them alive.

It’s not what town is next; it’s what activity will be banned next. First it’s motorcycle rallies, next it will be something else. It turns into a vicious cycle.

I would bet somewhere there's a coastal city that's fallen on hard times just preparing a press release.

"Myrtle Beach blows. Come here, we WANT your business! New HD dealership opening in the fall!"
