Need a better horn for 07

I'm looking to replace the stock horn with a new and better aftermarket horn. But, I dont want to cut any plastic. Does anyone know of a company that makes good hornes, basicly Plug and Play.

Hope you find what you are looking for...but when I bought my '04 I didn't know of an option like that. I was a little leery about cutting plastic in my brand new baby but quickly got over it. The MOD is unseen down in front and the LOUD bark of the magnum blasters is almost mandatory. :clapping:

Thanks for the info, but there has to be something that is better. The ideal horn would be one that is same size as the original, but louder.

To get more volume, you need to steer away from the small piezo buzzers like the stockers, and get yourself some air powered horns such as the Magnum Blasters, Stebel Nautilus, or the Wolo Bad Boy.

I put the Wolo's on my 07, had to remotely locate the compressor, and even then still had to dremel out a tiny piece of plastic just forward of the radiator, which as Wheaton says, is unseen.

If there is another option out there, it's obviously a very closely guarded secret, and despite some serious searching. I couldn't find one that would improve on stock.

I was able to fit a steibel nautilus in my wife's Vespa scooter, there my be a way to fit the same horn in my 06 FJR without cutting anything? I was also going to pick up the horn harness so I make sure I upgrade my wiring at the same time. I upgraded the wiring when I put it in the Vespa because it kept blowing out the switch I also had to run a relay. Fucking thing is loud and it pissed me off when I compared my horn with hers. My stock horn sounded like a toy next to that monster.

The Stebel Nautalis Magnum horns you only have to cut a little bit of plastic that is black anyway and high up in the inner fairing. You'll never see it unless you get down and look up at it. No worries go for it. Mine looks fine and the horn is AWESOME!! People two lanes over now take notice when I hit the horn.

I will need to look up there and see if some of that room was being used for the xenon slim ballasts? Thanks for the feedback and I think I am going to do it if I can find someone to install it for me. I do not have the time or the tools.

2006FJR - Sorry it was the two MAGNUM horns not the Nautilas single horn.

There only has to be something better if you've made it yourself. Other than that, you're just hoping.

I too am getting ready to install a set of horns on my 06 and while I'm in there intall a Centech AP-2 fuse panel to clean up the battery wiring situation. I have the harness from Randy and a set of Fiamm Freeway Blasters which I believe are also called Magnum Blasters. If your considering installing a more powerful horn you will need to beef the wiring up along with a quality relay. That's why I got the harness setup from Randy. The horn will be louder and the wiring protected.

I looked in the Bin-O-Facts and found this post from mindtrip that seems no plastic was cut up and the install was done successfully. I don't like the idea of cutting out the inner panels either so the horns tuck back more and I am planning on "not" cutting them if I don't have to. But if neccessary I will. Alot of 06 and 07 owners have already installed this setup but I procrastinated and now its time. Hope this helped. PM. <><

I was at the Easternbeaver.com site and noticed they had premade wire looms for horns, including relays etc, all prewired. If you want it to look neat and clean, give them a try. I am installing a Centech AP2 and used their wiring/relay kit and a pre-wired loom to connect my front farkles up, should make for nice clean wiring. This means only that you have to make a small dremel cut to fit the Magnums.

Well according to the post I included in the reply above, mindtrip did no dremeling or cutting to the panels. And several other's in the same thread also did no cutting or dremeling and all with no problems in the install.

I can tell the looms at Easternbeaver, while not discounting them at all are not as well made as the horn harness Randy makes. He also had said to me in a mail that the quality relays are now labeled under the Tyco name which use to be Bosch.

As I mentioned I will cut or dremel the panels if needed but from the results mentiond doesn't look like one needs to go that route. I've seen pics of horn installs of the Magnum's and the Freeway units which are similar if not the same with panels cut and those that weren't and didn't look that much different. No one is looking under the fork area anyway.

And as long as there is no contact with the horns you're good to go. But as mentioned in mindtrips thread by Randy, check this clearance with the forks "compressed" and full lock in both directions. I guess I'll find out myself shortly. PM. <><

I just installed the FIAMM Freeway Blasters this weekend. I've had them on my FJ for a long time, with a relay. I've got the relay and wiring for the FJR, but with four kids 5 yrs old and under, its hard to get good garage time. Couldn't take the factory horns, as I commute into DC daily and use my horns almost every day. I mounted up the FIAMM horns with the supplied brackets and just made some pigtails to connect to the factory wiring, as an interim solution until I can wire up a relay. No cutting required. And they sound pretty good, much better than the crap OEM units, but not as loud as with the relay. Hopefully, I'll get the relay in soon, probably a late weekend night after the kids and wife are in bed.

If you want plug and play get Fiamm disc horns at almost any auto store[Advance] parts # 40365 D-low tone-goes on right side bracket, and #40310-C high tone-left bracket. Much louder that stock, over 130 Db and they bolt directly on with no mods. Not as loud as honkers with a direct wire relay but a good compromise.

I added a pair of freeway blasters, using FJRandy's harness. The only time that you'd have to cut any any plastic would be if you had a fork brace. Otherwise, there's room (barely) for the horns. They are LOUD!!!

I believe the ultimate loudness horn that will fit on the FJR is the Stebel Nautilus horn. I have one that I haven't mounted yet but have powered it in the garage and it's painfully loud. I'll probably try Spunkmyers no cut install: Clicky or FJRandy also has a more involved install: Clicky
