Wow there are an awful lot of familiar faces there......

Glad you guys had a good ride. Did Michael manage to get himself lost?

Richard.... Does this look like a guy that really knows where he is in life?????

Lost is a state of consciousness for him....Reality... What is that?

We had a great day yesterday... Breakfast in Winters, a ride up one side of Lake Berryessa, and on up the Pope Valley to Clearlake. Lunch at the Main Street Bar and Grill on the shore of Clearlake and then on to the back roads of the Capay Valley. The air was clear and crisp with temps in the mid to upper 60's. We had a group of seasoned riders and many spouses and significant others. It was one of the best rides I can remember... A really spectacular day for riding the canyons, with the trees blooming in white and pink, the grass in brilliant green and the sky crystal clear. Really a perfect outing and a way to enjoy the bike and friends.... Rich

Credit goes to Tyler who picked the day!

Looks like you guys had a great ride!

What a great day!

Beautiful weather, fun roads and great people! You do meet the nicest people on an FJR (even owners of other brnads). The Hycles (Mike & Terrie) and James Burleigh (Hans) rode up to have breakfast with us even though they couldn't make the ride. Are you reading this Brian (FJM)?

I had a problem with my bike and had to put the battery charger on it to start it. I had to get a couple of people to help me push start it during the ride so I would take off ahead of the pack in case I had "issues" so others might stop and help. A battery will be ordered, poste haste (it was at 11.5 volts this morning, thumb the starter switch+11.1 volts).

Here are a few pictures of the scenery:

The group in front of the cafe:

Hwy 128 West of Winters:

I pulled over to get some pictures of the group riding past. The batteries fell out of the camera...Zooom! Zooom! 2 bikes go past...picked them up and it won't turn "on" ...Zoom! Zoom-Zoom! 2 more fly past...Rats, one battery is in backwards! Zooom!....Zooom! FINALLY, the camera turns on....

An inlet on Lake Berryessa:

Bluestreek (Steve & Cyndi) caught me and we ran along Berryessa Knoxville Road. Once we turned West theourgh the farm country we rode past this farm with white fence along both sides of the road. I didn't measure the mileage but it took a couple of minutes to pass by....

We stopped for lunch at Clear Lake. Here are the "Phone Queens"...texting one another???

DrRich7MAR09018.jpg

A nice place with dining al fresco on the patio overlooking the frontage road and the lake. We moved a few tables together and created our own outdoor banquest area.

L-R: Painman (Del), Sacramento Kike (KLR Driver), the Jrews (John and Jan) beacuse John caught an early flight home from Canada.

DrRich7MAR09019.jpg

L-R: Bluestreeks (Cyndi & Steve), Really Old Michael, Brodie, Susan (of Dave Migliore), bikeman9 (Roy) on his first FJR group adventure.

A second group joined us a few minutes later so the seats would eventually be filled.

L-R: Susan, Dave Mig, bikeman9, FJRobs (Terri, aka Phone Queen 1 and Rob)

After lunch we headed North on Hwy 53, East on Hwy 20 and South on Hwy 16. Here's a photo of some of Hwy 16.

We stopped for gas at the Cache Creek Casino in Brooks, CA. That's where Old Michael took the group photo. Then everyone headed home. Sacramento Mike, Old Michael, Brodie and I (Brodie should have known better than to ride with Mike3 but that's another story) headed down Hwy 16 through Woodland and rode along the Sacramento River rather than jumping onto the highways (Hwy 505 South to I-80 East).

Here's a couple of shots from the levee road,. Orchards on the right and river on the left.

If you didn't make this ride....you should have.

Brian, Neener-neener-neener! :bleh:

And Barb, Karen (Den Mother), Rogdebs, Nightshine, et al, you were missed. :(

It was definitely a grand day. Obviously President's day was intended to be in March, not February.

Good friends, good riders, great weather. It just doesn't get any better.

By the way, the white fence goes on for over two miles and belongs to Langtry vineyards. We rode up there a couple of weeks ago and they have a beautiful tasting room and a dozen or so picnic tables overlooking the valley. Anybody for a picnic ride?

Mark

Great ride and great photos. Thanks for posting them up :clapping:

Riding is March is always spectacular because everything is rich green. Kinda like a little piece of Ireland for this upcoming St. Patty's day.

Richard, you guys are going to really enjoy the NorCal ride on Hwy 36, etc. We really are doubly blessed:

Great roads and a wonderful group of riders, and the weather to enjoy both.
