Hey guys, i spoke with radiantz (radiantz.com) and they said that the 1156 base amber light clusters will work for turn signals at the rear of the bike (replacing stock in stock housing). However, they said that they do not have a solution for the brake/running lights. Aren't the brake running lights just dual filament with the 1157 base? should the 1157 dual filaments with the red color work for the brake/running lights? Your input would be appreciated.

I'd love to replace my taillight bulbs with LEDs for two reasons: the electrical savings and the super long life of LEDs. At least as long as they were BRIGHT LEDs--at LEAST as bright as the OEM ones. I've got a LOT of extra lighting already, front and rear, including Hyper-Lites. I'm a true believer about it.

I actually bought a product a few weeks back that I thought might do the job; it was an LED cluster with a standard base. Had a chance to buy it so cheaply I thought I'd take a chance. Half of the bulbs lit up in running mode, and the rest came on with the brakes. BUT--when I pulled the taillight out thru the mounting hole behind the seat (and connected the LED to the plug to see if it worked--and it did), I realized the cluster itself was too damn big to pass through the mounting hole and fit into the cavity behind the red lenses. :angry2: I gave it to a friend with a cruiser.

So I've still got my eye out for an LED replacement with an 1157 base and an 1157-sized head as well. Anybody got one?

I'm going to give these a try. They're advertised as a width of 25mm...which is the same as a conventional 1157 bulb.

I tried converting the milcandela into lumens or watts, but not sure I got the units right. Hopefully, they're similar in usefulness as the stock bulbs at least for running illumination. In my particular case it's an ***-pain to get to the bulbs to replace them because of a welded subframe and Pelican case. I wanna have that 50,000 hours of life over the 1,000 hours or so.

Post pictures too Iggy. Before and after.
Will do...mostly.

I've got a burned out tail light...hence ordering these things. I was planning to shoot some controlled shots and post up.

There's a chance they'll make it by the weekend and the FJR will go into Winter deep-maintenance mode to repair wear and tear on her 110K body.

After looking at the video on that link, I just ordered a pair (hope they're legal). Report pending.

Here's the report. They bite. Ig's look MUCH better, from his report. The video of these things on FJRJc's link makes them look amazingly bright, but. . . Should've saved my dough. I got a great opportunity that just came up, and I need all I can raise. I got an email from this Nigerian prince who just won the lottery, see, and . . .
