Dale riding a Wing? OMG!
Yeah, it's sad but true....

And while the behemoth thing was admittedly pretty comfy... what a complete and total DOG this Wingabago is! It is an enormous handful at parking lot speeds (when 2-up and the bike heavily packed), and the underway performance is just SOOOOOooooo much a disappointment after being on the FJR.

But the fact remains, if I want to carry this woman with me on these LD runs in the future.... it's prolly only a matter of time before it comes to this:

sacrifices you have to make some times...

at least she is with you enjoying the ride and sport :clapping:

Ack, tell me about it! Though I only did 700 miles on it, my impression is mostly negative. Obviously, it's the bike of choice for serious long hauls with the female onboard. But, my god, what a wallowing pig at low speeds and uber-tight twisties! Tom Austin even has the full-boat Traxxion Dynamics AK-20 Cartridges up front, and Penske rear shock in the back... and it's STILL an oinking pig! Power and roll-on are decent enough for this behemoth machine, but the top speed is WAAAAAAAaaaaaay less than I am used to. :glare:

*sigh* Correct..... the handwriting is on the wall. Lisa can do the FJR fine... up to about 5-ish hours, tops. After that, levels of discomfort begin to negatively impact the enjoyment of the ride, the biggest complaint being the wind blast and the relatively high passenger footpegs. After 6-7 hours, she is no longer enjoying being on the back of the FJR.

So obviously, that time limit isn't going to make the grade for serious LD running.... *double-sigh*

I might just kill myself...<going to take a double dose of meds>

I'm a sucker for putting heros on pedestals...have a mileage sheet of my guy's 7 BB1500Golds with the total miles in big red numbers

sigh

:dribble:

Perhaps a sidecar. Doesn't do much for speed but sure would add to the comfort factor and it would be fun to watch the development of a LD sidecar with all the bells and whistles.

I could barely tolerate this Wingabago that has the full-boat aftermarket suspension... a hack would never cut the mustard, performance-wise.

Too, she has already nixed the sidecar idea when it was brought up during "Wild Wild West!"... she wants to remain up high enough to have an unhindered 360-degree view of the world rushing by. The Wingabago's passenger seat sits her up considerably higher than the FJR pillion seat does, so that's yet another plus for the behemoth....

I don't know what wind screen you have on the FJR, but we ended up with the VStream and that took care of the wind issues for my wife. Granted I have to run with it all the way up most of the time, but maybe that would be a solution. I am assuming you have the seat and suspension all done and adjusted already. We also have the factory top box with a back rest. She does let her legs hang down on long straights now and then, but we are able to do 12-14 hour days only stopping for gas and food. I also gave her the camera, so it keeps her busy looking for photos to take while on the move.

You are welcome to try my windscreen (and /or top case) with her to see if that helps.

I might have to take you up on that.... because I am absolutely in no position to procure a Wingabago anytime real soon, so I need to make the FJR work for us, at least for a while....

No problem, next time you are in the Auburn area

:dribble: Dude...don't do it. Banish the thought. You have a reputation to uphold. There are some lines that should not be crossed.

You are one of the first people I met in this community. Your old ST1100 webpage...the photo of the screaming Warchild sporting the double birdie...HE'D never ride a 'Wing!

I feel a little sick...the world is looking a little darker

I hate to say it, but you may want to try two up fitment on an, <cough> <hack>, LT. Reports from a recent BMW Koolaid tasting session led a un-named couple I know with a Gen II FJR to say that the LT was better than the Wing in plushness, overall comfort and rider spiffness.

And hey, they put drain plugs back on the FDs, so it's all fixed now!

Maybe you need to scorre a "long term test bike" for an article?

Super-secret spy photos of said "un-named" couple taking a sip of the KoolAid. She LOVED IT but wanted armrests like our H-D had, I liked the electric center-stand. But like WC, we're in NO position to procure ANYTHING in the near future.

PS. My German-made helmet took an instant liking to the LT.

Crapola Dale - Do you have any idea what I'd ride to get my "other half" to go along?

If picking a different ride is your biggest problem because she'll go, you are a lucky man!

Next thing you know, Dale will be riding a Ultra Harley-Davidson and loving the ride.

Talking about PW..... :****:

Hugs n' Kisses

...oh wait, I have an Ultra and Ms. dCarver loves it.. and that's the primary reason it gets ridden as much as it does..

so, NeverMind!

I can see it now: GWTech. Page 13 will have instructions for the coolant system BlowJob. Step 1: Take out your dentures.

what's the world coming to?

Although I have to say that once in a while when I look into the crystal ball and two up riding extends into retirement years the GW looks possible. Jeesch!
