Ok, posted under recall, but started this.

Picking up bike from dealer, as I was starting it to ride away, I noticed the ABS light blinking. 08 gen II. Service guy drove around block still blinking. Takes back to service bay. I notice that brake lights are stuck on as well. Service guy can't seem to figure it out. They say the recall harness install was not part of the brakes. I don't know. I do know it was not having this issue when I dropped it off last Friday.

Any ideas. I don't wanna get stuck here.

On mine, the rear brake lever was sticking on, lubrication of the pivot fixed it. Mine was a YCCS, and came up with an error code as well as flashing the ABS light. The non-YCCS bikes just flash the ABS light. (That's Gen II, the Gen I's don't show anything except a hot rear brake disc.)

Ok, I am crying foul ans BS. Rode out abs blinking again. Checked horn ans no touching and shorting now. I recalled tech disconnectes battery cables, that reset the ABS, of course I rode 2 miles and its flashing again. I will do a wiring check tomorrow. If its not my wiring, its going back on Tuesday.

Missing your old 04 Gen I about now? :p

Have you checked the rear brake pivot as mcatrophy suggested? I bet it is something simple. Is your brake light still stuck on?

Yep, missing it for sure. Well this issue is definitely a harness issue. These are some symptoms I have noticed since riding it home.

1. Abs is flashing.

2. Brake light still bright as if handle depressed.

3. The N for neutral is not illuminating.

4. The horns will not blow when horn button is pressed.

5. The glove box will not click open when key is turned on.

Those are the symptoms I discovered while riding home. I have decided not to dig into it, but to take it back first thing in the morning.

There is no way all of this is disfunctional due to a horn connection touching the radiator. I pulled it far back away and nothing changed. Something went wacko with the install. I have few farkles, and the horn relay and the powerstrip relay is linked to Tue right side turn signal. That signal works just fine.

With all of the issues that developed I would remove the recall harness , inspect all spyders and reinstall the spyders.

If this solves the problem high tail it out of the shop and get a Brodie harness.

Well here it is. Dealer for bike and told me that they would track issue. Problem, the disconnected harness horn wires were touching the frame. Now, these puppies are plastic tipped coated, and I think I taped them, but that's the story. They offered to rerun some farkles wires and solder others and basically clean up some of my relay install wires. This was offered at 1.5 labor hrs. Tech showed me what was done and it looks really really good. Hoping to ride out soon. This is my second day closing this place down, rather be closing happy hour. Hopefully problems will be solved.

Yep, did some good electrical fixes. I have it home and already stripped it down, nose and fairings off. Making sure all the bolts are tight, mirror bolt hand loose...well that's why you gotta know your ride. All is good.

Great. As of yesterday I have all the aforementioned problems on my 5 month old 2010. Why didn't someone warn me to keep my 2005?

Are you kidding me? Several of us have been pontificating non-stop about the hazards and general bad karma of owning a Gen II FJR.

You just weren't listening!

Yup, same failures, same fix. Pesky horn harness did me in too. Saved some diagnostic hours at my shop by telling them about this thread.

Thanks!
