The winter projects are done - now if winter would just be over. I made the following mods to my '07 FJR over the winter and would be willing to do the same for other Chicago-area FJR owners:

Disabled windshield auto retract

Barbarian Jumper Modification to enable CO adjustment

CO adjustment of all four cylinders

Seat pan modified to lower seat about 1"

Throttle return spring unwound one turn

Throttle cable adjustment

I have a garage and would be willing to help other FJR owners with their bikes. Just let me know.

If you have tire-changing abilities, you'll be the most popular guy in Chicagoland.

Bigger than Barack! Bigger than Daly! Bigger than Rex! ;)

Sorry, I leave tire changing to the experts (or at least the folks who have the equipment).

Sorry:

I can't make it To Chicago, however i would like to have information on the seat pan lower if possable. Comming

from the vertically challenged crowd, and not willing to sacrifice handling. Thanks Long Gone

Jon,

I would be very interested in getting help with the throttle return spring adjustment. Any chance you will have some free time next weekend??

I'm waiting for my wife's new bike to get setup before I pickup my new '07 FJR. And gathering ideas of things to do to the bike. What are the above 2 items, for what year(s) bike, and what is the purpose?

I've read a number of threads on the CO modification. What's your perspective on why and the result?

TIA,

Roy

In response to Roy's post:

Many Gen II owners complain about the stiff throttle. Folks get sore wrists or numb fingers from it. By unwinding the throttle return spring one turn you relax the throttle just enough that it still returns to idle quickly but makes the right wrist/hand much happier. It's hard to get to but easy to do (there are posts on the Forum about it).

Some Gen II bikes have poorly adjusted throttle cables with too much slop in them. Taking out the slop helps make the throttle more responsive. Be careful because you still want some free-play in the cables.

The CO modification adjusts fuel mixture which is set very lean. Makes acceleration much smoother and the bike more responsive going through the gears. You can read about it on the Forum also.

Hope this helps.

Jon,

Have you had your ECU replaced yet? I noticed that it got smoother after I had it replaced this past Wed. And if you did, how your other mods got effected by it?
