Looks like you guys had a great time.

Are you sure that was a flashlight OM was trying to hand you in the dark?

After this we parted ways and I headed for home.

I had lightning strikes all around me all the way into Redding.

I rolled into Marysville about 6:30 PM

A long day but I did enjoy myself

Thanks Mike and John

Awesome ride report and ride gents! :yahoo:

It's been a few years since my Burney, subway caves trip. Last year did Lassen park. Never been to Hat Creek, good thing, those creatures scare me!

Great job. You got me pinin' for the mountains again. :yahoo:

Also did Greenville, backside of Indian Valley to Antelope Lake, then down into Beckwourth, then back to Lake Almanor via Quincy. What a great little afternoon ride. I love that area!!! :D

I'm getting trip sick, I better go.... :(

Holy ****, you know at the time I thought it was ..and he kept saying you need to turn the top to make it work. Talk about feeling violated. I'm so naive sometimes.

WOW did Michael actually stay for the whole ride this time?
Well past that, he was the big dog of the weekend riding double the miles of the other two gals. My hat goes off to Mikey ...not only was he out to explore, log some miles but he was going to have some fun along the way. He doesn't feel he needs to babysit others, and he certainly doesn't need babysitting done to him. What a pleasure to ride with those kind of guys. low maintence I call it and I sure look forward to more miles with ya Mikey.

to Antelope Lake, then down into Beckwourth, ..............
Holy knows his **** batman. Yep, Quincy through/around Antelope Lake and then down to Beckwourth is a favorite of mine and do it all the time. I take folks on it and they're blown away at the goat trails ....pretty much from the time you leave 70 all the way to Beckwourth ...and some nice patches of dirt as well!!! When we meet up, please remind me to tell the story of hitting the turkey on the way to Antelope Lake via the route you mention ...a good story.

STEVE: I stole some of your pics and added them to my trip report. Thanks so much and I hope we can log some more miles soon. Cheers and thanks again bud.

Way to go Steve and John. Isn't it great when everyone on a ride takes a bunch of photos and posts them. I love it.

I've yet to organize and download my mess, but I got some really good ones too I think.

Steve, I've gotta hand it to you. You, and your sweet and lovely wife Cyndi, make just about every ride put together in these parts. You're a trooper brother. (You don't mind if I call you brother, do ya?)

John, I can't thank you enough for showing us around an area you're so familiar with. Of course, you and your bikes are VERY familiar with half the continent. You are a RIDER!

And that Strom (the man's version) is a badassed bike! I really like it and the sounds it makes.

It would've been a hoot to chase you out to the coast, but alas, you had your honey at home awaiting your return.

Pictures and words later.

Oh, and that sign up there on the right says SOFT SHOULDER! Somebody!! KICK me in the ***!!

Okay, here are my photos. I'll try not replay too many of the scenes.

Early, early. Steve would lapse into snoring fits each time we stopped for pics. This on 70 between Marysville and Greenville.

IMG_1661.jpg

Are we gonna fit through that little hole up there?

IMG_1663.jpg

I stop on a lot of bridges. The Feather River.

IMG_1670.jpg

Steve staring down a mare.

IMG_1676.jpg

I've been reading RenoJohn's ride reports since I joined the forum, and now I finally get to

meet him.

What a prick!

IMG_1684.jpg

Kidding!

We caught up to him in Greenville and had breakfast together.

Very hot cowboy chick sat nearby as I recall.

And of course, just a few minutes after getting on the road, we got another chance to take off our helmets and chat some more.

IMG_1690.jpg

Into Lassen. Here's John swerving and cursing as I stepped out in front of him. Them Stroms are nimble.

IMG_1693.jpg

Last picture of my FJR before I dropped the sonofabitch.

Lassen National Park is beautiful.

IMG_1708.jpg

Near the summit. That's John on the right, heading up, passing "pylons."

IMG_1721.jpg

That's, um, ............Mt. Vesuvius out there. Yes, it is.

IMG_1729.jpg

Big weenie. On the left! On the left!

IMG_1758.jpg

Lake Britton dam and spillway.

IMG_1792.jpg

Exploring the Burney area. Overcast and light rain, with occasional lightning. Strangely beautiful.

IMG_1796.jpg

I knew the ******* would get us on a dirt road.

IMG_1798.jpg

Steve headed home as the day wound down. John and I continued touring the area.

Looking down the road toward Shasta from Bartle. That's Mt. Shasta out there, obscured by the weather.

Seriously. It is.

IMG_1812.jpg

Not sure what hotel this was.

IMG_1818.jpg

Fall River. Rush hour.

IMG_1824.jpg

Finally, back in Burney, we checked into different motels. I stayed at the Shasta Pines here - John, across the street at the Charm Motel.

Still got a group rate on our hooker.

IMG_1831.jpg

The next morning, John opted to sleep in a bit before heading home, and I headed west for the second day of my ride.

Gonna post that separately, as this report is already taking a week to load.

Thanks all. :D
