EDIT: Old Fart and honorary member of the Villiage People beemerdons will be re-organizing this ride for Sunday, July 27th. All other particulars like meeting place, are the same.

Well folks, I have been meaning to do my favorite ride in Arizona for months now, but just never seem to get to it.

No longer!

Come join me for a ride through Salt River Canyon!

Saturday, July 12th Sunday, July 27th, kickstands up at 8am. Meet at the Chevron station on Goldfield Rd, just south of US60. (3265 S. Goldfield Rd., Apache Junction)

From there we will head to Globe, then through the Salt River Canyon. I haven't figured out lunch yet, but I am thinking somewhere in Pinetop. We will return via 260 to Payson, and then down the Beeline to the oven hell we call the Phoenix Metroplex.

So come join me and get out of the heat to the high country for some great twistys, awesome scenery, and the smell of pines!

Mi Amigo SkooterG: In reference to your phone call to me yesterday regarding the restaurants that we of AZ FJR Forum have frequented on past Salt River Canyon rides, here are the two "******" eateries that we have had lunch at:

1) Downtown 9 Restaurant, 1457 E. Deuce of Clubs, Show Low, Arizona 928-537-4334

2) Pinetop Cafe, 436 E. White Mountain Blvd., Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona 928-367-2517

Tu El Puto Perro y Pinche ****** Marbach - Para la comida Mexicana es:

1) Guayo's Mexican Restaurant, 350 E. Deuce of Clubs, Show Low, Arizona 928-537-9503

2) Matta's Too Mexican Restaurant, 1676 W. White Mountain Blvd., Pinetop-Lakeside, AZ 928-368-6969

PS: For Mexicanos such as vectervp1 and BeemerDonS, both Guayo's and Matta's serve menudo, posole, y flan en Sabado!

Yo SkooterG,

I will be joining you Saturday. I vote for Mexican food. See you at 8am on Goldfield. Hey Don, are you riding this?? C'mon y'all, cool pines beats roastin' your *** off in the Valley! :diablo:

BadCat Burk

Saludos BadCat Burk,

I wish that I could be riding with you guys this Saturday. This weekend I have to be in Paso Robles, California for a Pipefitters Reunion and Retirement Party for my Union Business Agent friend Kip Johnson. I just got an e-mail from Arturo Montoya that he will not be able to make it either. Get some pictures please, I understand Skooter G has a new man thong!

Dammit Don, you really know how to turn a guys stomach.......the visual is killing me. Please no more. :dribble:

As Arty-farty alluded too...................

I am seriously bummed. Once again, no Salt River Canyon for me. :( Sorry guys, Mom decided to make a last minute trip to visit her favorite son this weekend, so I am grounded Saturday/Sunday.

Dangit!!! I wonder when I will ever get this ride in.

You all have fun without me. I know that's hard, but try anyways. :p

Well, because of the storms Thursday evening, I may have to work Saturday so don't be suprised if I am not there at 8am. :(

Wow. So then uhhh....you're not still living in her basement next to your D&D collection?

Cool.

Actually, Art/GunMD: Skoot's playing basketball Saturday!

SkooterG is now a proud, very proud member of the Phoenix Hoops. He looks marvelous in his new puce and mauve uniform!

Fantastic. I actually clicked on that right here at my desk at work. Geez, whoever combs over the logs on the proxy server will be amused, I'm sure.

Oh, and Skooter....

You go girl!!

Very sorry about that GunMD! Heading up the Pipefitting Division at Metro Mechanical, I never care what my guys and gals look at on their lunch hour over the Internet, so I often forget that others may be monitored. Please scrub it off your reply.

Many thanks, Don

Since the gentleman (term used very loosely) flaked out on leading this ride to Salt River Canyon, your Papa Chuy will step forward and lead this mission. ******* Squids! You want an operation to run right, you call in the Army; not the swabbies!!!

Consider this "Too Broke for NAFO" or in my case, "Out of Vacation Time for NAFO!" Just a ride for us unable to get to NAFO.

We will be riding SRC on Sunday, July 27. We will still be departing at 0800 from the same location. Ignacio y "El Pendejo" put together an excellent map and we will run this route counterclockwise. Since Badcat Burk was the very first to vote for Mexican food and "El Burrito Ballerina" MUST have his menudo every Sunday, we will be having lunch at Matta's Restaurant.

Mi Amigo Zonies: Our monsoon season has fully arrived, so make sure that you definitely pack your rain gear for this trip!

Anticipate a high of only 105 as we leave/return The Valley. If you need any more info call BeemerDonS at 602-722-0427.

No worries. I work for the military...they can't ask as long as I don't tell.
