https://www.applebees.com/vetsDay/default.aspx For all my FJR Military Veteran Arizona Friends: Come for a loop ride next Wednesday, November 11 departing at 1000 hours from the Starbuck's Coffee Shop located at the San Marcos Hotel at the South West Corner of Arizona Avenue and Chandler Boulevard in downtown Chandler. We will loop down through Sacaton then over to Florence then North to the Junction and West to Applebee's located at 4712 East Ray Road in Higley, Arizona 85236 480-279-0824. Bring copy of your Form DD 214 or any of the other acceptable Proofs of Service on the link above.

More info?! Contact Papa Chuy Medina "El Burrito Ballerina" at H: 480-917-3863 Cell: 480-440-4666 [email protected]

This old saw brought back so many shared laughs when we members of the different branches of the service would be waiting in a MATS facility I couldn't help myself. I was at Rhein-Main Air Force base in Frankfurt, Germany one night in 1969 and I heard everyone of these zingers! So my Fellow Veterans's: Get a kick out of these Service Descriptions, ha, ha.

"Marine Corps Rules:

1. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one.

2. Decide to be aggressive enough, quickly enough.

3. Have a plan.

4. Have a back-up plan, because the first one probably won't work.

5. Be polite. Be professional. But, have a plan to kill everyone you meet even your friends…

6. Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun whose caliber does not start with a "4."

7. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap. Life is expensive.

8. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. (Lateral & diagonal preferred.)

9. Use cover or concealment as much as possible.

10. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect yours.

11. Always cheat; always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.

12. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived.

13. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating your intention to shoot.

Navy SEAL's Rules:

1. Look very cool in sunglasses.

2. Kill every living thing within view.

3. Adjust speedo.

4. Check hair in mirror.

US Army Rangers Rules:

1. Walk in 50 miles wearing 75 pound rucksack while starving.

2. Locate individuals requiring killing.

3. Request permission via radio from "Higher" to perform killing.

4. Curse bitterly when mission is aborted.

5. Walk out 50 miles wearing a 75 pound rucksack while starving.

US Army Rules:

1. Curse bitterly when receiving operational order.

2. Make sure there is extra ammo and extra coffee.

3. Curse bitterly.

4. Curse bitterly.

5. Do not listen to 2nd LT's; it can get you killed.

6. Curse bitterly.

US Air Force Rules:

1. Have a cocktail.

2. Adjust temperature on air-conditioner.

3. See what's on HBO.

4. Ask "what is a gunfight?"

5. Request more funding from Congress with a "killer" Power Point presentation.

6. Wine & dine 'key' Congressmen, invite DOD & defense industry executives.

7. Receive funding, set up new command and assemble assets.

8. Declare the assets "strategic" and never deploy them operationally.

9. Hurry to make 13:45 tee-time.

10. Make sure the base is as far as possible from the conflict but close enough to have tax exemption.

US Navy and Coast Guard Rules:

1. Go to Sea.

2. Drink Coffee.

3. Deploy Marines.

I appreciate all Service Members from every branch! Take care! Sergeant Don Stanley aka Chuy Medina "El Burrito Ballerina"

Don... Having put in more than my fair share of time in the Coast Guard, you must know that we don't go to sea.... It is a requirement that you have to be at least six feet tall to get into the Guard so that if the boat sinks you can walk ashore!

Are you riding this early version of a BMW on your Veteran's Day Ride

Yep Rich, that's the one! Actually, no Axis Powers machines on Veteran's Day. Riding my Harley-D Pam Anderson, big jugs!

I spoke to Wolfhound / FJRobert Ashby this morning, I'd invited him to ride with us on Veteran's Day; I had planned for him to ride my FJR. However, Robert just had reconstructive surgery on his shoulder done at the downtown Phoenix Veteran's Administration Hospital. He says the PHX VA Hosp. is a good one, Thank God we old AZ War Dogs are going to need it soon!

Don, put me down for Army

Discharged Jan. 1972.

I won't be able to make the ride, still working.

Joe

I should never have let my buddy talk me into doing that.

...and ended up joining the AF anyway.

Wish I could make it Don.
My Apologies, Old Michael! I should've had you on our list, knew you were a Zoomie and even said so in another post thread.

Ironic,
Most of us are missing the ride because of work. Army time in and released 1968.
Roger, thanks for reporting and I've added you to our FJR Forum list. I know: I couldn't enjoy Veteran's Day until I retired!

To cold to ride here and to far to ride there. No Applebees close to me so I am out of luck. USAF 68-72

FJRay, Old Buddy: I'm really not discriminating against you Air Force Guys, really I'm not. I knew both you and Old Michael were Zoomies; and for some odd reason I'd left you two of off the list. You are on there now. I damn well know that you did not wear an evening gown to the draft board, unlike someone that we know here. Happy Veteran's Day To Everybody!!!
