I headed out early on Sunday to give myself enough time to take frequent breaks if needed as this would be my longest ride yet on the itsy bitsy Spyder! B) I slabbed it to 88 and then up 49 with a break in Plymouth for a bio break... I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the products in the vending machine in the rest room...
Unfortunately, I left my quarters at home so refrained from purchasing any products to divvy out at lunch time. I ended up arriving early so had the whole place to myself for awhile. It was a beautiful day and El Dorado was quiet (for the moment) and I enjoyed a little solitude to watch the world go by from the bench out front.
Soon after that, I was joined by a gent who was waiting for some "friends" that were riding in the area and meeting him there... shortly thereafter the first of the FJR brigade pulled in and I got to meet Simon/FJRBluesman who then proceeded to go over to the gent I'd been talking to and greet him as well... turns out that the gent, Lemar, and I were waiting for the same crowd!! The rest of the crowd appeared shortly thereafter and we moved inside to the bar where we would place our food orders before being seated.
Michael and Michael... on blue FJRs... from Sacramento
Simon and Brian/FJRONAMISSION, the ******* stepchild of the FJR forum...
Need I say more?
Walt/flyingjunior and Terri listen intently...
Michael/Hycle (also on a blue FJR... from Sacramento)... I'm not sure what he was doing... I used deodorant that day.
OM was bombarded by the flashes of all the ****** paparazzi that made a showing... either that or he was doing his Tom Cruise "Risky Business" impression...
Sam/puppychow eagerly awaiting his ribs...
Terri and Michael (on a blue FJR... from Sacramento)
MM2 (aka Michael... yes, on a blue FJR... from Sacramento) sidled in after we all got seated so he was sent to the bad boy's table to eat by hisself...
The bar was hoppin'...
This is pretty much the entire size of the dining area...
We spilled out into the bright sunshine to find lots of folks out front, including the aforementioned ***** who is lucky those FJR boys held me back. We all said our goodbyes and scattered to the winds for respective homes. I headed back down 49 and pretty much had the place to myself... it was a perfect day... not too warm and wispy clouds that looked like brush strokes against the blue sky canvas...
Think these signs are trying to make a point??
I saw a large pond off of 124 and pulled onto the little road that looked like it would lead me there... unfortunately, it was private property but it was nice that they had my initials on the gate (you can see the water behind the trees there!
Still some wildflowers hanging on to the remnant of spring gone by...
Not a whole lot of traffic the rest of the way... I stopped in Livermore for gas and a butt break and met my new best friend, Yolanda, who told me her whole life story in about 5 minutes flat and how much she loved the Spyder, etc. and had another rider 2-up come over and chat me up as well... sent them on their way to Patterson Pass Rd. for a windmill view treat. Nice contrast to my earlier encounter and a great way to end the ride. Thanks to OM, MM2, and Simon for calling the event and putting it all together... and for letting me hang out with them in public.
