The weather forecast earlier in the week had not been promising and I did have other thins that I could be doing but a check of the Canadian Weather Service Website the night before didn't look too bad so I set the alarm. I had to leave early to miss the Toronto rush hour traffic so I was on the road before 6:00 AM and missed the worst of it though it did jam up a bit on the 401 approaching the Don Valley 'Expressway' or as those of us from the GTA referred to it as the Don Valley Parking Lot.
The further west I traveled the more Harleys and other bikes appeared as everyone on two wheels were making their way to Port Dover for this year's only Friday the 13th. The forum boys had made earlier arrangements to meet at the church in the hamlet of Boston on Cockshutt Rd. I made a stop in Brantford (the home of the Great One, Wayne Gretsky) at a Tim Horton's and was at the church with some time to spare. I used to work in the area and one of my fellow workers was a volunteer at the church which had set up a hospitality stop and were offered free drinks and food for the riders. After catching up with my friend from Nanticoke TGS the fellow FJRer's started arriving...
By 9:30 Scott (Canadian FJR) rolled in with his host Moosehead and the rest of the Baden group. Here we are discussing the finer points of John's FJR over the free coffee...
It was soon time to head south to Port Dover. The local authorities had limited access to the town to just motorcycles and local residents so getting into town way easy but we had to park the bikes at the far west end of Main St since we were a little delayed getting there...
I took a short ride towards the pier to get some video of the bikes & the crowd that I will be posting later but I had to turn back at the American Hotel since it was getting impossible to get through the crowd. I copied the following from the on-line Toronto Sun;
and from the World Famous Arbour Hotdog Stand...
As expected there were a LOT of Harleys but there were some other interesting items if you kept your eyes open...
This guy thought the tassels might disguise this amongst the Harleys...
This Nimbus sidehack rig was nicely done...
Check the LED running lights on this R6...
All types of services are available on Friday the 13th in Port Dover...
The racket from 50,000 Harleys was making me want to put this to the side of my head...
This girl was willing to wash your bike...
Too late. I've already have some free photos. See ya.
We got some reprieve from the masses down at the dock. Normally Port Dover is a commercial fishery town. One of the trawlers was still in port...
There were even some nice custom cruisers...
This sidehack was pretty interesting...
I still like those restored bikes however...
Bikes were not the only thing on display...
OK, be afraid, be very afraid...
But then Mattster, Scott & I saw something oddly familiar...
Well, I'll be. I thought a certain resident from Owosso, MI would have been turned back at the border due to questionable morals in regards to sheep. But apparently not...
After such a shocking experience we had to leave Port Dover and find a quiet location to settle ones nerve after such an encounter. Mattster led the group over through Spooky Hollow to Turkey Point for lunch and a nice rest before everyone headed back...
Scott was last seen shuffling off to Buffalo. Tom is not in this photo according to the Tom in this photo. This is because Tom told me while he was in Port Dover that he never goes anywhere. I believe this is therefore a clone of Tom.
I have some video that I am still working on that I will post here later.
It was great fun to meet everyone and hope to see most of you at CFR.

Here's what that looks like from down near the dock...Police and organizers estimate that more than 150,000 people -- about a third of them on motorcycles -- poured into the town of 6,000 on Friday, surpassing the record set in June 2008.
