I wanted to be able to see what my throttle % was at different points of my ride. I don't plan to add the lcd to my pc3, the one that works with it isnt forward compatible with pc v.
After noticing how well my 12 inch netbook fit in the tailbag, I was inspired.
Why cant the droid mirror the laptop screen? It Can!!
This was all done with free software. Some of it has limitations in the free version, but for our purposes it isn't an issue.
On the pc side I installed 2 apps
Connectify https://www.connectify.me/download/?refid=
This uses the lappy's wifi as a hotspot, even while the wifi is also the internet connection.
VNC Server https://www.realvnc.com/products/vnc/licensing/?download
This hosts the incoming connection from your phone. I opted for free version only, no trials and got a license key.
The install will prompt to open a port in windows firewall. allow it.
This also installed a mirror driver that slowed the lappy down to a crawl. I disabled it in device manager (displays) YMMV.
On The droid all that's needed is Remote VNC https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.toremote.vncmanager&feature=more_from_developer#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiwiY29tLnRvcmVtb3RlLnZuY21hbmFnZXIiXQ..
Connectify will show the settings you need to plug into remote vnc. After I saw the desktop on my phone, I started the PC 3 app and ran a usb cable from under the seat to the tailbag. Lappy in tailbag and phone on ball mount. It was awesome! I zoomed and panned on the phone so it only showed the live stats on the right side of the pc 3 app. I found I don't use nearly as much throttle as I thought. Deserted backroads recomended :clapping:
