Well I guess we'll make this the official spot for this weekends ride to Death Valley.

First I'd like to thank everyone who made the trip, cause it all fell into place perfectly. We had a blast!!

It was great to meet some new riders from SoCal and of course Cygnus, what an awesome dog. :clapping:

I'm going to be keeping a close eye on any upcoming rides down south. ;)

Photo's to follow and it's true that you meet the nicest people on the FJR.

I thought you were the official photographer? Post away.

Here's Turbodave relaxing at Badwater with the ladies, he's one smooth operator. B) And yes one of them was a nice young Italian girl, Stefano's sister I believe. :D

I decided to race ahead and take some pictures. I found out that I managed to scare Dcarver's SO as i raced past at 130ish (kph of course). This I managed to accomplish every day of the trip including the run home :yahoo:

While stopped at Stovepipe Cindy found some wildlife to feed (naughty girl)

P1010683.jpg

The next stop was Scotty's castle and in the interest of sanity TWN, Barabus and myself decided to head out first so as to not get stuck behind the pack.

P1010691.jpg

After messing around at the "castle" for a while the 3 of us headed up to Ubehebe Crater.

P1010695.jpg

We then headed to Beatty for Lunch (no pic of that )

Then it was on to Rhyolite for some strange art work and crumpled buildings.

TWN found a new ride

We left Beatty at 4pm and with the stop at Rhyolite, 3-4 picture stops and running into ScooterG and his girlfriend Jane we still made the 120 mile run back in 1 hour 40 minutes.

more to follow tomorrow.

I dont think i will be riding tomorrow as it will take me all day to get the damn bugs off the bike.

Safe n' Sound too. Pix Tuesday. Great time. Good to meet and ride with a bunch of great folks. Will post pix Tues when at high speed connection. What a freakin' good time... Thanks everyone! :clapping:

Yeah, it was a blast !!

Good people, I finally got to ride with a bunch of ya -

And I want to say Thanks to the ladies for helping out Jeannette with her very first ride on Wonky. Her only ride before this trip was about 5 miles last Sunday. She's a trooper - her knee was killing her, and there was the option of a car ride - but she stuck it out. I've already ordered the foot peg extenders, and will be doing a visit to Ojai sometime in May.

Lots of good advice from all of you - MadMike2, the use of the sheepskin pad really helped her out. Thanks.

Stats when I arrived home: 1132.4 miles. Moving avg - 61.4 mph Moving time - 18:26.

Jeannette is complaining that her butt hurts. ;)

What I found really nuts was that the highest temperature we encountered in Death Valley was at Badwater - 90 degrees.

However - as soon as I dropped into the LA basin on highway 14 this afternoon, the temp climbed into the nineties - the highest being 97 in Brea, just 8 miles north of me !! Nothing like visiting Death Valley to take advantage of the cooler temperatures.

*Yawn*

Well, that was a hoot and a half! Got back to the Nut House at 1530 hr and promptly crashed - as in nappytime.

Thanks to skyway for the set up and to all for a killer ride. I'll post up my photos tomorrow. Sorry the O'vales and RogDebs weren't there - missed you guys.

So Saturday started off with a fast run to Stovepipe Wells (and i mean fast). Once we had regrouped we all headed to Dante's view for an icredible view of Death valley from 5000+ feet.

Looks like a great trip, thanks for the write-up and pictures. Looking at the pictures reminds me that it has always amazed me how beautiful women marry the ugliest trolls on earth! I keep asking Lorie why and she just smiles and pats me on my hump!
