How in God's name do you get that ridiculous sticker on the top of the gass tank off withoout messing up the paint. I have been peeling it off bit by bit with my thumbnail for the past three months. Sorry for asking a question of such a highly technical nature.

TWN had it correct, if you don't have any googone, you can use WD-40 without harming the painted finish.

I used a little glass cleaner to soften it up and then my thumb nail. Went light so as to not scratch. It came off with no marks.

A hair dryer worked nicely. I would NOT use a heat gun, especially on the gas tank.  WD-40 for any remaining glue.
What, you don't like fireworks? (I made the assumption that we're all smart enough to turn the heat setting to low when using heat guns around painted surfaces and flammable liquids, but given some folk's LIQ, I shoulda stated that point.)

Holy crap you guys are nuts! Thats like removing a tag from a pillow!!!! Wont the feds be after you for removing the warning label??

Peanut butter. Get the main part of the sticker off with a hair dryer. Put a little peanut butter on a rag and start rubbing in a circular motion. The peanut butter rolls up the glue and wont scratch the paint. That Honda cleaner polish also works.

If youre using any of these solvents on your tank sticker (gas, WD40, Eucalyptus oil, etc.) you need to put the bike on the centerstand, so that you can sit on the saddle for more leverage, Make sure you are BUTT-NEKID so that you don't ruin your britches. Also, wear yur helmet with the visor down, so it won't sting your eyes.

Try to do this waving your left arm in the air, and don't forget to yell,"WHOSE YOUR DADDY NOW? BIATCH"!!!

What a great visual,eh? :yahoo:

Funny how all these home remedies are so popular. I did the WD-40 thing too, with a soft plastic scraper. Came right off........and then I promptly washed, dried, and waxed the whole bike.

P.S. Bad idea on using the gas on the paint, TIMBO....seriously.
