Yup, we got lost. As we approached the turnoff for Glacier Point (or whatever it's called) we couldn't see the lead group as they left before we had all paid and nobody was at the turn off to direct us. Tim pulled a U-turn and took off to Glacier Point and rockn, rogue and I talked and decided that a group must have gone up as some were talking about so we all decided to head on up and take in the views.

Here we are at a view stop:

o'vale, rocknfjr & rogue:...I was lucky to ride with these guys!

Now, start bugging rocknfjr to post some of his video!!! He's got a really nice setup with a camera anchor and an aux lense that goes where most people put sliders!

We went to the top looking for the group and there was none. So we left the parking lot full of cages and beemers and headed down back to 140. Once there, we pulled the cam out and Sherri started her pillion photo stuff...she got some nice stuff :)

rocknfjr...in front of a...rock. A big one! :D

Sometimes Sherri's eye catches some incredible stuff. I think I'll leave the camera to her!!! For those new to Yosemite, riding in the valley at the base of these monstrous mountains of solid granite takes the breath away. For those used to it...well, does anyone get used to it? I don't! :cownoy:

So we cruised the valley a bit and then headed out Tioga pass on the way to Mammoth Lakes. I have never taken Tioga before. What amazes me about this particular area of the Sierra Nevada is that the changes in structure, flora and feeling of every range you go through are not subtle. Changes slap you in the face with all new types of beauty that you've never seen before. I am a die hard fan of the Rockies, but I saw vistas on this trip that rival the Rockies' best. I might just start falling in love with this place the USAF dumped me in 1991...after all, I am on an FJR now with my wife...what better way to see it all?

Enough talking...let's see it all!

Same place, different angle:

Entering yet another tunnel:

another one of those views....

See that sign to the right? Many cages did, many did not. Good thing that I had spotty vision that day making the lines look broken  BTW...Did Sherri mean to get Rogue up front while simultaneously getting rocknfjr in my mirror?

We went uphill...heading out and the scenery changes...wow.

more to come...still... B)

Tioga has a lake at the top...I forgot the lake's name...maybe Sherri can remind me later....

I find it really handy that she seems to have a knack for getting signs in the pics sometimes...reminds me of ...well...names.

Tioga had some really fantastic granite mountains...some places were almost void of any plant life due to the abundance of granite. Some stark moonscapes followed by lush valleys. Another incredible alpine adventure!

hmm...more cages to pass...

These big rocks pull you toward them with their own massive gravity:

hi rock :cownoy: See the life clinging to the middle-side of this hill...too cool :)

pause while uploading more pics to photobucket......

Just a few more pics of this leg of the trip. After this, Sherri was bitter cold and couldn't take any more pics. We put her in a few more layers and put her raincoat on top to cut the wind completely out of the equation and she felt better

The last pics of Tioga and of this thread:

Later groups of riders complained about the huge cross winds on Tioga. We were lucky enough to get down with moderate winds so we had a lot of fun on some really nice sweepers.

nice...

Thanks for getting our day in pics Sherri! ILUVM!

Holy bandwidth bandit, batman!

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. I have never been to Yosemite, and I see I am going to have to go.

Though I do seem to have a wee problem with riding in scenic Kali......

very very nice .... how long where you there . and if you really wanted to see the whole area how long do you need >

If you want to see the whole area, I think you need a week minimum. We scratched the surface...barely. We pretty much just rode through. There are hikes to various falls, summits etc. that really are worth seeing. A friend of mine has access to his Uncles cabin that is very close to the falls. He spends at least a week a year at Yosemite and always seems to have stories of soemthing new. He's 49 years old and has been going there every year for the last 32 years.

No worries! While it was a lot of fun to be part of such a large pack of FJR's, it was also good to get to know Rogue and Rocknfjr so well and have a small pack to buzz around with. :D

Yup! Pulled up to the stop sign. One glance at the shuttlebus--no brainer for me. You all chose to follow...........Yew orta noe bedder! ;)

Nobody's complaining! I wouldn't wait for a shuttle to pass either. I'm just explaining how we got separated in case anyone was wondering. :D

We sure got some nice shots in all these combined efforts...wow. Make sure to check out the action shots of CISCO and 04FJR in the Mamoth to Sac thread. Some cool ones in there.

Hey O'Vale,

Great pics but I think there is something wrong with your camera............ I don't remember any of those lines being double solid ones!

:p :bleh: :p :p :bleh: :p
