I am considering an FJR, and a large part of that consideration is a more relaxed rider position to accommodate the old knees (32" inseam) and 200 mile days. I currently own an "04 FZ1 which puts the legs back a bit (not as much as a pure sportbike). I would be hoping for a more forward leg position (to take the pressure off a bit). I don't see myself on a Goldwing yet.

I would appreciate anyone on the forum who has any experience with riding both bikes to give me a comparison.

Thanks!

senior, I have/ride both bikes, the FJR's pegs are very similar to the FZ1 ('06). You will find that the FJR is a smoother long distance ride. Get the bike, you'll like it. :clapping:

I'm 64 and have both bikes also, 07 FJR and 02 FZ1. The riding ergos are very similar. I'm very happy with the FJR ergos.

Thanks, Petey and Foxhuntr. I really like the '08 in black. Just bought mama a new car after 12 years with the old one. May have to wait till spring.

Hey Foxhuntr, 1943 was a very good year. I turn 64 in October.

Like Foxhunter, I ride both. My best riding buddy and I swap bikes all the time - his 03 FZ1 for my 06 FJR. Very similar seating position. Definitely longer saddle time ability upon the FJR, though.

If 200 mile days are what your after though, you may look into an 04 (due to much better mid-range) or earlier FZ1. If your not packing much and are planning on limiting your time to 200 mile days or less then my choice would be the FZ1 due to the fun factor. Lighter, quicker, pretty much same ergos and easily get about 200 miles per tank - day over.

Sully, thanks for the input.

I own an '04 FZ1 now... (exactly like the '03 except for decals and color choice). You are correct. The "fun factor" is definitely there with the FZ1. I have textile saddlebags for it, and a tank bag.

Your statement is definitely my dilemma. I may just stay with the FZ1 for a while. It definitely is a sweet running/handling bike.
