It is time for the annual March ride. Occidental is a little town in the Redwoods sort of between Santa Rosa and Bodega Bay, and has some of the best Italian food you will have ever tasted.

We'll do the usual and meet @ Moskowite Corners (Junction of Hwy 128 and Hwy 121 Northeast of Napa) around 0900, and try to leave around -930 taking 128 past Lake Berryessa and Lake Hennesy, R. on Silverado Trail to left on Dunaweal 1/2 mile, R on Hwy 29 to Calistoga, 2nd stop sign L. on Petrified Forest Rd. Route change: At the top of the hill, R. on Porter Creek Rd. Porter Creek Rd. will become Mark West Springs Rd. and cross Hwy 101, then become River Rd. Continue on River Rd. across the Russian River to Hacienda, then L. (down river) to Guerneville, L. on Hwy 116 (Gravenstein Hwy) about 3 miles, R. on Green Valley Rd about 2 1/2 miles, R. on Harrison Grade Rd until we meet Graton Rd. R. to Bohemiahn Hwy., L about 1/4 mile to Union Hotel Restaurant on the left.

Lunch at the Union Hotel Restaurant.

After lunch, South to Bodega Hwy, West to the town of Bodega (where the movie "The Birds" was filmed) and on to the coast. North on Hwy 1 thru Bodega Bay to the Russian River. R. on Hwy 116 to Guerneville (yes, where the floods were this Winter!) and stay R. on 116. A beautiful stretch of road where the Redwoods grow over the Highway like a tunnel. I figure to stay on 116 to Cotati on Hwy 101. From there, we can all find our own route home.

I'm planning to take 101 South to Lakeville Hwy East, Stage Gulch Rd. East and work my way toward Sears Point Raceway, turn L. on 121/12 toward Napa, then take 12 to 80. (I figure it will be close to dusk by then and don't want to try and ride 121 to Moskowite corners when antlered vermin will be on the prowl.) But, if its early enough in the evening, there are always options!

IF the number of bikes approaches what has normally happened on the March ride (20+ bikes) we will be splitting the group into smaller, more manageable groups. I'll try and bring maps.

There will be a couple of rest stops. Probably one in Calistoga (AM/PM @ Petrified Forest Rd.) someplace where there is a mini-mart/gas station so those who need to can stretch and hydrate. I also figure to stop and top-off the tanks in Bodega Bay.

Sacto Valley riders, should we meet at the "normal" Chevron in West Sacramento @ 0800? Gas and GO! Earlier would be better than later. But then, you should know the way to Moskowite Corners. :D

Are you ready for this?

Rogdebs
Oh I'm ready. Will the Rogdebs make this one? I hope so!

Do you have the route plugged into your Mapsource software? If so can I get a copy? :help:

Were getting hi-tech around here ya know?

It would be cool if TWN would bring his movie maker with him as well. :boss:

Well I'm seriously bummed. We just bought tickets to Florida and will be there over that weekend. That'll be some nice riding. I may not tell Catherine and spare her the disappointment.

I'm really going to miss The Highlanders :(
Damn, that FJR must be feelin real lonely about now. I'll come by and help keep her fresh if you like? Get well soon Highlander. :der:

Well, two strikes against us making it. May have the bike back by then, maybe. And it's our custodial week for the 9 year-old diva. She's a blast, but won't fit in the Givi box.

Oh sure, any excuse! :beee: I just imagined you'd apreciate being thought of.

Nightshine, you're added to the list.

Hey, Catherine! Remember that ride we spoke of on Super Bowl Sunday?????

I didn't know you needed tickets to get into Florida. Sounds like something California would do. :p :tease: :rolf:

Strike three. Just remembered the culmination show for our annual fundraiser is that day, and I'm the emcee. Guess it wasn't meant to be. Y'all be careful and have fun, if you can do that simultaneously.

Westbound I-80, West Capital off-ramp, just past where the Reno 80 merges on, before the Yolo Causeway. The off ramp ends at a signal on West Capital, the Chevron is across the street @ about the 10 o'clock position.

If you guys come down I-80 as opposed to Business 80, it will be the offramp just before the causeway.
