The guy I bought my FJR from likes to show me how green the grass is...

He twisted my arm enough to "make-me" ride his 2006 GSXR before it was stolen

Today he twisted that same arm to make me ride his 2006 Hayabusa.

It is much heavier than the GSXR but handles & corners much better than I thought.

Acceleration is almost violent, feels like your arms are working loose.

(this is a 100% stock 2006 Busa)

Fun bike, but not a long distance touring model like the FJR.

When I went back to the FJR and nailed the throttle on a straight away it felt like a 600

If someone could design some side bags that don't ruin the look it would be a lot closer but still no replacement.

Still smiling 8hrs later :)

If I win the lottery one just like it will be in my motorcycle stable.

I'll never own one because my knees hit the faring and my legs would probably cramp up after 20-30 minutes but if Suzuki ever put that engine into a sports touring bike .....

I have a cousin that has a busa. He put a super charger on it and gets something like 350 horses. He wins the world of wheels stuff all arounf here. TOO much power between my legs, and I agree fairing hits my legs.

I'm more interested in the comparison between the 'busa and the GSXR. Would you say the 'busa could be used as a more comfortable version of a sport bike?

In a word, YES.

The busa is alot more relaxed compaired to the GSXR's due to the longer wheelbase, And weight. Butthat motor is simply the best!

I cant wait to compair the ZX14 to the busa... I hear that the ergo's are in between that of the busa and the FJR!

Will the FJR remain in the stable another year? Depends on the test ride! I wish i could keep the FJR and get another, But the "costs" are more than i want to pay since i can only ride one bike at a time...

Would probably qualify me for a discount on the loan rate, and I would need it, as I would be needing two loans, one for the bike, one for insurance. And, just from looking at the pic, I would last about 10 minutes on the Boose.

I was much more stretched out on the Busa Vs. GSXR

(I'm 5-10, 190#, 30" in-seam for reference)

1st was the GSXR, felt like a toy compared to the FJR

I think he said it weighed 385#

Gear indicator & flash to pass lever were two cool things I noticed right off.

One of my first thoughts

"Now I know why I feel so tired after chasing him through canyons all day on my FJR :) "

The GSXR has what I call telepathic steering, it is effortless. The bike just wants to lean deep.

Next was the Busa.

All my previous notions were it was a go fast straight line, high speed-top end bike.

I was part right.

Weight I would take a guess to be around 525 (had a full tank)

With both bikes being open-no protection rides you definately notice the wind or lack of protection

(My FJR has a Cee-Baileys +4/+1 w/flip so even all the way down is 80% covered)

My helmet is a Shoei X-11 with the pop-in plastic breath guard (directs your exhale (exhaust) down away from shield to avoid fogging) every time I accelerated I could feel the breath guard pushing against my nose.

After a few miles the routine was squeeze the tank a little tighter with my thighs, make sure I am hanging on tight, tilt my head down about 1-2 degrees, click it in 3rd and "HANG-ON" Being the 4th of July with Leo's out everywhere I only brought it near redline 2nd/3rd a few times.

Fast enough for me :)

The owner does a lot of commuting near Orange County, CA

Those who know can understand the typical traffic density.

When I was asking him how he likes it, how does it compare to the GSXR he said.

"When you are going along and trying to navigate the filed of cages the GSXR allows you to effortly navigate in/out/around traffic. On the Busa you have to be much more selective on the holes you want to dive in as you travel through"

I can feel that after riding both.

The Busa does corner nice, but the thrill I couldn't get enough of was wide open 3rd gear to redline :)

No wind protection, no storage but still a blast to ride.

This post made me nostalgic. I owned a Busa two years ago before my back surgery enabled me to ride again. What a bike. Overall the FJ is a far better bike for me, but.......... I had 1" bar risers and a sport touring screen on it as well as both mag tank bag and nylon removable saddlebags, so I wouldn't have hesitated to trip on it if my back would allow. It was a truly amazing bike - so tractable at low speeds and so compelling when you got on it. Did I say I got rid of it because of my back? Oh yes, there also were the tickets :)

The Busa is a nice machine and more adaptable to distance riding than many people think. Last summer I did a distance rally and kept running into a Busa that was on the same rally. The rider was about 50 and it turned out to be his latest SS1000 ride on it, not his first. He didn't even have a tank bag on that thing, but he did have a buddy riding with him who carried all his stuff on a Yamaha Venture. That was a strange looking duo, even more so than my FZ-1 and riding partner on a naked Connie. I'd consider getting one just to fool around on but it is on the list after a Gixxer1000. haha

The local sheriff I know who owns a 06 Busa has really nice after market suspension front and rear. It handles night and day from stock, and he rides and keeps up with guys on R1 etc. He has taken it to track days and get very good times. He has about $20000 into that bike but it is amazing. That motor in a better stock frame would be unstoppable. The long distance touring capabilities of the Busa is definitely there, many do it all the time.

I'll tell ya, I'm realy eyeballin that ZZR1400 kawasaki. :dribble:

yup, saw it in person the other day and let me tell you, it is BIG!!! but once it rolls, it handles like a 600. the power is enough to get you hooked. touring elements are there trust me.
