I have seen a few FJR's with a round Igloo on the side with the hose...I want to do the same. How are you mounting it? Is it all homemade or is there someone building a bracket system? Thanks guys....

FWIW, I typed this into the search box and got 125 threads that include hydration systems: +hydration +system (just copy/paste this phrase to make it simple for you) Enjoy the read!

There was a manufactured kit a few years ago. Many have made their own. Some are mounted on the passenger peg.

Here's a link to Bounce's website and his hydration unit which would be easy to remove should you carry a passenger: https://www.fjr-tips.org/acc/hyd/hyd.html

BTW...there is a lot of information on his site for other maintenance and mods.

For the OP -

Most of what you see was made by a feller who was really good at machining things and then went and took a bunch of money from peeps and then never delivered the product. I'm being nice here in a public forum.

The key thing is to mount a round machined chunk of aluminum to the foot peg after removing the peg's rubber pad. The inner diameter of the machined piece accepts an Igloo. find some straps to secure it, some material to insulate it, and you're on the road and hydrated.

I sure wish the original feller who thought of this idea had been, well, nicer to fellow forum peeps?

Lots going on in between the lines here..

Some of us passed the opportunity to elucidate thinking it didn't help answer the OP's question.....

Ok, I wont mention his name either. I read the whole sordid affair..... I was wondering if what I saw was still available or if I had to fabricate my own. The pannier idea is ok, but it is $120 fish for the bags. I was thinking more along the lines of PVC pipe and some brackets from "Home Ripoff". If anyone has one of those fancy ones and is willing to take a couple of close up shots; that would elucidate and edify me. I may end up with the panniers, but I want to ponder this a bit. I was just fishing for some other ideas/pictures. Thanks fellers...

I went really cheap. Removed the rubbers from the passenger foot pegs. Cut a couple of chunks of aluminum to fit the slots to make a flat surface. Bought 2 gallon jugs & found $1.00 sauce pans that they fit in. Removed the handles, and cut slots in the sides to run some webbing w/clips on the ends to keep the jugs from falling out. Drilled holes in the pots & aluminum & bolted it to the foot pegs. Put plastic fittings in the top of the jugs, stiff Ice maker tubing on the inside & aquarium tubing on the outside w/a bite valve on the end. Less than $30.00 for both sides :) . On a long day, I'll empty 1, & get a start on the 2nd.

I made mine by imitating the original. Wasn't that hard. On a long trip (especially in the heat), it's hard to imagine ever being without it again!

Mine is a bit cheaper than those above. Bought one gallon shoulder carry cooler. Cut the straps off and sewed them to the bottom so they would grip the foot peg and secured in place with a bungie cord. Pop the drink spout off and tubing fits snuggling in the opening. $5 and about half hour in sewing time. Here is what it looks like on the bike.
