Same idea here. I really like this bag. I can roll it down small if there's not much in it. It has a threaded vent to let the air out as you roll it down. The cap can't come off, either. Comes with straps, or use whatever. Very well made. Heavy vinyl. Comes in black, also.

I used a heavy cordura "range bag" that I got somewhere. Look for the kind with the interior compartments you like and be sure that it has a flap to seal over the zipper. I only HD-Scotchguard once a year. Things were nice and dry in all weather. It was large enough to have to sit sideways (lengthwise L/R) in the passenger seat.

Something similar to this but a little longer. I removed all the dividers in the main compartment and mostly used it for off-bike clothes, etc. This one fails the test because it's a "surround" zippered and those zippers don't have weather flaps.

I picked up a like new but used set of Rockbros soft bags on marketplace for $30. Are made from a heavy plastic vinyl that are very waterproof. I stuff one with clothes and it doubles as a backrest. Lets me utilize hard top and panniers for things I dont necessarily need to remove from the bike overnight. The rockbros are on ebay and amazon new for more money than I paid but still cheaper than other brands. Good luck.
