Engine sounds a little bit rougher below 1600 RPM

Ok but is it normal then? The sound is not very loud and I haven't verified this behaviour on any other FJR. Maybe it’s completely normal and I’m way too sensitive to “strange” sounds... Is there anyone else who has this behaviour? /Per

Engine sounds a little bit rougher below 1600 RPM

Ever since the beginning of my ownership of my 06 I’ve had this little rougher sound from the engine at 1600 RPM and below. It’s not present at higher RPM’s. The transition from sound to no sound when going from low to higher RPM’s is very distinct, at 1500 RPM it’s present and at 1650 RPM it’s...

08 FJR R&R Clutch Plate Soak

My 06 is also a bit clunky going into 1st gear but if I keep the clutch lever pulled for about 10 seconds it’s much better. The first owner told me that Yamaha did something to the clutch just after he bought it because it was “kind of stuck with grease”. I have all the papers from that work but...

Maximum speed for original top box w/o passenger?

 I’m going for a medium long ride (apprx 700miles over a couple of days - is that long for you over there?) so based on the experience of you guys I realize that something smart should be placed on the back seat to prevent strange things from happening. Thanks again, Per

Thank you all, Mine got a revised mount so I'll go for it (With a little bit of caution of course  ) /Per

Maximum speed for original top box w/o passenger?

Hi! The previous owner told me that there is a speed limit (max 65mph?) when riding without passenger with the original Yamaha top box mounted, has anyone heard of this? I'm going for a longer ride this weekend and don't want to miss all that space  Br, Per

    Hard turning in

Very interesting note Tracy, I also find it harder to turn right and often finds myself counter acting with my right arm during right turns in low speed - I don't like it at all. Have to practice more to make the right turns as safe as the left turns. Br, Per
