Have you ever had a flat tire?

Maybe you should have crammed another string in so you didn't have to change the tire? LOL :) Even I wouldn't run a tire until I ran out of rubber if it had multiple strings stuffed into a cut. But it sure would be nice to be able to ride to a shop or home rather than pay for a tow (and...

Cee Bailey Tinted Reverse-Flip Windshield For Sale

I have a similar Cee Bailey shield that's 2 inches taller with the flip and stock width (sounds like yours is a plus 2 inches wide). This is my "go to" summer shield because it provides good wind protection without buffeting when raised, yet allows for good airflow when lowered. The Vstream...

Have you ever had a flat tire?

Sticky string for me also. I've heard of dyna plug failures and they don't seem like they would work in a jagged cut situation where you could stuff a few sticky strings in to seal the hole. I've plugged a couple bike tires with sticky strings and run them down past the wear bars with no...

    Valve adjustment

The cam marks were both lined up as far as I could tell when I measured at the crank. If there was a cam mark difference, I couldn't see with flashlight and inspection mirror and there's no way I'm pulling the engine to get a better look. :)

    Valve adjustment

I posted about cam chain wear in this thread: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/168401-cam-timing-experts-needed/?p=1315066 At 110,000 miles on my 07 I had to adjust the valves for the first time. The marks didn't line up perfectly and I eventually figured out that it had to be...

    Which Cruise Control?

Unless someone is mechanically inclined, the McCruise sounds likes the way to go because all the design work is done and there's extensive instructions. I'm an aircraft mechanic and have spent a lifetime working on and modifying all sorts of mechanical/electrical things, so installing the...

    Factory top case position modification?

My wife was crowding me on the FJR, so I actually made a plate to move the factory mount rearward. Worked great until she decided to ride her own ride, which coincidentally is a NC700XD. We still get to ride together but it sure is freeing to not have a passenger on the bike. Now I just us the...

    Garage Security..

If hackers can get into Equifax, they surely will get into my garage door opener. :) But my wifi is password secured and you'd have to drive onto my property to try and access it, which will result in someone walking out the house while armed to investigate (I work days, the kid works swings...

    Garage Security..

I just built a large shop and my garage door opener came with a automatic deadbolt. I don't know how common such break-ins are, but it came with the great deal I got on the door install from Costco so I'm not complaining...

    Done at the Cigar factory!

Congrats Kevin! Cigar factory - I like it. I guess I'll have to call it retirement from the Cigar smoking lounge (aka Alaska Air) when I retire one year from now with just shy of 30 years there. You'll come back for all the tech days, won't you? :)

arthritic rings (not what you think)

The arthritis is at work in my thumbs, but not too bad yet. I did find replacement zipper pulls online to fix missing ones on some gear and they would be good for weakened hands. They are 1.5 inches long and also come with rubber sleeves that make them thicker and easier to grasp with gloves...

    Pinlock misting

I've had a misting issue on my pinlock in my Nolan N104 and it's not related to keeping the helmet outside. The first problem is related to the pinlock not sealing completely along the bottom edge, no matter how I position it or how loose or tight I adjust the pins. Running a think piece of...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Rode it to work for the last time in a long time. Surgery on my left ankle is scheduled for tomorrow morning and I'll be off my feet for a week and then hobbling around in a boot with crutches for weeks after. Not sure when the ankle will work good enough to shift without causing damage to...

    Windshield bolts: scary ride yesterday

Not all of us have the Force like you do, Yoda. LOL :)

    Windshield bolts: scary ride yesterday

130,000 miles on my 07 and half the year I run a Vstream shield with occasional forays into triple digit speeds. Still using the original factory plastic screws and they haven't broke - probably because I just use my finger TIPS only on the screwdriver when tightening. Plus I've loaned out...

    ABS test help needed

The rear brakes on my 07 have never been very strong, requiring lots of foot pressure to seriously slow the bike. The ABS does work on both ends, but it's hard to engage on dry pavement. I ride down a very steep private road daily that often has gravel or wet leaves on it, so engaging ABS is...

What did you do to your FJR today?

That must be my problem! I have Harley pegs on the sliders on my FJR and it's been running a little rough. ;)

    Winterizing

I don't understand this "parking the bike for winter" concept here in the Seattle/Tacoma area. It rarely snows or freezes and when it does go below freezing it's usually dry so there's no icy roads. So no need to winterize the FJR. :) In truth, I do understand winterization because I used to...

    Quiet Forum These Days?

That was Weird Al's version of the AC/DC song: I can't hear the original anymore without singing the Weird Al lyrics. :)
