KrZy8 Engine Autopsy results - first FJR cylinder failure?

Interesting there's a fair amount of carbon on the cylinder wall on each side of the failure... Nowhere else...

Rear rack - just to mount a day bag

I made this which is attached to the Yamaha rear luggage rack for my FZ6. Several holes for bungees, very, very useful:

    Heat shield missing

As posted, the Gen I's didn't have a shield. It helps with temperature comfort for the rider (and heating the tank from engine heat). I bought and tried to install a Gen II shield however if wouldn't fit (very different). At the time, I then bought an aftermarket, heat blanket (someone...

2006 Gen 2 problem after spark plugs change

Best way, IMHO, to rid yourself of those bubbles. https://www.carbtune.com/ ____________________________________________________________________________ Plus 100^^^. No tool syncing, no fluids to worry about..

'07 FJRA - "Another starter relay needed ?" FYI - Rhetorical rant...

Sounds like you found the area where there's a bad wire, bad connection, etc. Simply manipulating various wires there until the non-crank issue arises should only require some patience.. Good luck

    Traded my FJR

As I don't do LD rides anymore, I bought (in 2009), my friends son's 2007 FZ6. Bought it as a beater-it was laid down several times. Much lighter than my first gen FJR, semi naked. Handles great, 44MPG around town, 14,000 red line, 6 speed, in-line 4(small FJR engine) with the dependability...

No more Zumo 660, no more Garmin

If the mount is similar to the 590, I made a mounting plate with a small tab for a "luggage lock". With the lock installed, you cannot push the release (you'd have to destroy the GPS to get it off).

Powerlet out of business, Warm and safe?

Thanks, did Powerlet ever respond to you?

Powerlet out of business, Warm and safe?

Did you ever get anywhere with them? Also, anyone order from "warm and safe"? Any issues, does the socket appear the same as Powerlet?

    Throttle Position Sensor Tool

I also have the torx bit with the hole in the middle however, if you take a very small punch/screw driver, you can easily knock that center piece out(on the mounting screws). It'll snap off easily at the base of the screw.. Opens up you possibility of tools you can NOW use..

    YCC-S issue?

I thought they had an issue with the mechanical mount (left side), cracking and the solenoid wasn't able to function properly?

Powerlet out of business, Warm and safe?

Member ShoopCE went thru this exactly (after installing brackets and using the link I provided) almost a month ago. He's the one that found this out. It's not a rumor. Try calling, you won't get thru...

    Engine Didn't Grenade/Something Happened/And Final Report

Congrates!! You might have him consider running Ring Free regularly. Or at least a shock dose every once in awhile- Great stuff!! Out of curiosity, (if you have the time), try another leak down test... I'd be curious how much it improved

    Engine Didn't Grenade/Something Happened/And Final Report

Some interesting reading should the RF not do the job. A commercial, Yamaha internal engine(carbon cleaner): https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-ACC-CLEAN-D1-00-Internal-Clnr-ACCCLEAND100/dp/B009460FYM It's NOT supposed to be sold to the public but can be found. A long thread but specifically posts...

Powerlet out of business, Warm and safe?

A "Powerlet socket" is a water proof socket, similar to a cig lighter socket but much more robust, seals itself when not in use(automatic cover flips closed). It was originally (to my knowledge) designed by BMW, Powerlet copied it and "Warm and Safe" carries a version of it. It's permanently...

Powerlet out of business, Warm and safe?

Yep, my customer just went thru this with Pay Pal. Directed me to a K1600 site where I got the W&S link. But they don't answer the phone??? I need to make sure the W&S fits like the Powerlet:
