    Hi Everyone

Welcome from a grown up dirt bike riding farm kid in PA!

    I’m back!

Bucks County, north of Philadelphia but very much rural where we are. There are a couple forum members from neighboring Montgomery Co too but we’re only casually acquainted. I ride mostly with one other person (besides my son who took over my ‘07 FJR) and we generally stay north and west of the...

    I’m back!

Welcome back from southeastern PA! We had dirt bikes as kids we rode across fields to work on the neighborhood farms but I haven’t had a bike since I was first married 35 years ago. I plead the 5th as to riding on roads back then. 😉 Started riding legally just a few years ago at the age of 52...

Does anyone ride between 6-7k rpm's?

Personally, I always ride in the highest gear that is practical for the situation. I’m probably part of a small minority but rarely shift over 4,000 rpm and don’t linger in lower gears in the twisties. This is an intriguing conversation and I will be paying attention to other opinions. There’s...

    My first FJR!

Ah! You like to get your hands dirty! You’ll fit right in here. Just don’t get TOO discouraged if it doesn’t need much TLC to keep it on the go. These things are reliable. 👍🏼

Mixing Michelin Road 6 GT and 4 GT?

Checked pressure recently and both were right where I set them. 40 psi in front. 42 psi in rear. Still have maybe 50% tread in rear but that’s a Dunlap Roadsmart 3 I put on at the same time last September. I change tires more often than I change oil!! Just ordered a Michelin Road 5 for the...

Mixing Michelin Road 6 GT and 4 GT?

I don’t know how you guys get so many miles out of tires. I can only dream of getting 7,000 miles. Just got 4,000 out of a front Bridgestone Battlax T32 and it’s got a bald strip on it. No more than 3/32” at the best spot anywhere on the tire. WHAT am I doing wrong?! 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Side Panel Repair

Hey, that’s great! Thanks! However, I assumed the factory paint was base coat/clear coat. Is the spray can capable of producing the same quality finish as the factory? Close?

    Stoked! New to me Bushtec

Being a farm kid and CDL holder, I have to say there’s something badass about pulling a trailer around with my FJR, lol! Like the rototiller and rear PTO kit on my old Gravely tractor. Didn’t get used much but was just flat out cool. 🤣

    Side Panel Repair

The mechanics of the mirror are fine, thankfully. Just all scratched up. …which reminds me - does Yamaha supply the paint code or are we left trying to match it on our own somehow? The “color matching camera” that my paint supplier uses is incredibly unreliable (from past experience). Any help...

    Side Panel Repair

While we’re shedding tears here on the Forum, the other day my son backed my immaculate 2014 out of the garage to get to his 300lb. lighter V-Star and forgot to put the kickstand down. Dropped it right in the driveway. Mirror, front and rear crash bars, and handlebar end all damaged. Life...

Steering Head Roller Bearing - Upgrade or Boondoogle?

This steering head bearing issue has me thinking I need a little clarification. Is it true that: 1- some bikes manifest symptoms from the factory that leave riders scratching their heads until they finally pinpoint the issue, 2- some bikes may develop an issue over time and leave the rider...
