Also, for every 1000 feet gained in altitude tire pressure goes up 1/2 lb. So if you ride up 10,000 feet and it gets 50 degrees warmer since you last checked it that's 10 psi more pressure.

Towards the end of summer is usually the best time to find wrecked bikes at the auction houses. They often list online which bikes are being sold beforehand. This way you bypass the middleman on e-Bay, get all the parts and maybe even know the mileage if you can turn on the ignition.

I can see the logic of buying the best shock you can find. The guys at SVrider, the SV650 forum "lean" toward the Penske. I like that they are made to be user rebuildable.
