    DROPPED IT!

My last bike was a Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic - lower center of gravity but heavier. I learned on that bike - when she starts going just let her go. Too much chance of wrenching the back (or worse). Just let it fall and pick it back up.

    DROPPED IT!

On a positive note - I'm no longer in need of a mirror. Thanks Silent.

Thanks to Silent - no longer in need of a mirror.

    DROPPED IT!

I just want to add - anyone who has not added sliders to the FJR should really reconsider. I can only imagine the damage that would have been caused to the fairings if I had not had sliders.

    DROPPED IT!

Uphill right hand turn in stop and go traffic. Coming to a stop I downshifted from second. Just as I was completely stopped traffic started moving again so I eased out the clutch and gave a little throttle. Uh-oh, I'm in neutral. Pull clutch back in and shift into first. The bike lurched...

    Looking for a new Helmet.

I have a Shoei RF1000 and a Multitec - neither seems more noisy than the other, but I do wear earplugs anytime I am going more than a mile or two. I love the modular, and the RF1000 is more of a back-up. Both of these helmets fit my head great with no hotspots, but I also had to put the...

    Gear Replacement

I prefer textile over leather because less upkeep/cleaning is required. Also, you can get textile in a variety of "Do you see me now?" colors. I have been wearing a First Gear Kilimanjaro 4 jacket for 2 years now along with the First Gear HT 2 Overpants. Been through many a frog strangler and...

    stock seat mods by Spencer,s

Just FYI - it only took a week from the time I dropped the seat off until I got it back to my house. If you can live with the stock seat that's one thing, but if not you may still have time before the riding weather gets really good. However, if you are a year-round rider, it may never be a...

    stock seat mods by Spencer,s

I had my seat done by Spencer a few weeks ago and have not had a chance to put any long days on the bike yet. 300 miles is my longest day so far and that was 150 miles each way, with a couple hour break in the middle for lunch. I can definitely tell a difference though - much less vibration...

    Yamaha's Woes

Well, I don't need a Gen 3 - I am perfectly content with my '07. As for the Tenere - ~450 lbs wet for a single? A dual-sport is in my future, as soon as I return from my next deployment. I'd like to see Yamaha put EFI, a larger tank, and a 6-speed wide ratio tranny on the WR450 and make it...

    iPod Holder

Only had a 100 mile day so far so no real info yet. I am headed down to Augusta, GA on the 27th of this month, ~450 miles one way. My plan is to ride down Friday and then do a local ride with some fellows I'm meeting up down there (if I get there in time). I'll then camp out Friday night, get...

    iPod Holder

You have to have a RAM mount on the motorcycle first - I am currently using a Migsel RAM-compatible base that I bought from www.cyclegadgets.com Imagine my Aqua box mounted in place of the GPS in this photo and you see exactly how I have it mounted. I'm currently using a standard 3" arm, but...

    iPod Holder

Fuzzy, My Aqua box came with three pieces of foam - .12, .25, & .50 inch I think (at least those are the thicknesses listed as replacement foam. My ride home today varied from 55 - 85 mph with no ill effects. Hope it remains that way.

    iPod Holder

I have been looking for a way to carry or mount my iPod to my bike, yet keep it protected from the weather AND maintain some sort of user interface. I started by just throwing it in my tankbag. Problems: tank bag by itself is not waterproof and the iPod tends to move around making access on...
