    Repositioned Handlebars on GenII

The change is actually very minor. The bars move back about 1/4 inch, and remain the same distance apart. That, coupled with the angle of the forks, actually makes them a fraction lower. It could be my imagination, but it seemed to improve my riding position somewhat, allowing me to sit up a...

    Polaroid shuts factories...

I'm sure there are those who try to cheat in these types of events, though why they would is somewhat beyond me. As far as I'm concerned, the real point of competing in these events, and others like 10ks, marathons, triatholons, etc., is the self-satisfaction gained from competing and...

    Polaroid shuts factories...

Digital pics of the GPS readout, downloaded at the finish line. No time to alter them.

    Repositioned Handlebars on GenII

Piece of cake, thanks to the writeup in the Bin 'o Facts. Loosen both bars, raise enough not to drag the pins, reseat pins in rearmost holes, and bolt back down. Took about 15 minutes, because I was being careful. Only moves them back about 1/4 inch from the middle, but makes a difference, at...

    2up buffeting

I've got the Laminar Lip on my stock Gen II windshield. I've also got one on my Harley and it works wonders on both bikes. On the FJR, it lifts the air flow over my head and gives me a nice quiet pocket while allowing me to see over the windshield. It also lifts it high enough to shield my...

    Anyone Try Mikeindustries Backrest

I have the PCA rack also. It uses the three stock mounting bolts, is easy on/off, and the pad adjusts up and down about 1-1.5". Wife is very comfortable with it. Don't need a rack or top case, so this is perfect.

    Cold feet

For reference, I'm 5'11" with long legs that let me just flatfoot the bike at a stop. I've only had my FJR for a few months, but I find it extremely top-heavy, particularly with the wife on the back. As others have said, once you're moving, it's fine, but for around town and in stop and go...

    Disappointed

It was threatening to get into the 60s today (though it was 34 in the am when I left home at 8 am), so a friend and I went out for a leisurely day ride up the coast. On the way home at about 4 pm, I was cruising through Santa Maria on Hwy 101, a four-land divided road currently undergoing...

    Christened My Bike Today

Took the wife out for a New Years Day ride. First extented ride with her on the back. Long story short: stop sign on a downhill street that sloped to the left. Wasn't paying attention, forgot about the extra weight on the back, let the bike lean too far to the left, and over we went. No catching...

    Sliders and Air Flow

As Steve Martin would say, well, excuuuse me! I thought mine was a reasonable question, not warranting the kind of crap one would expect on a Harley forum. I guess I didn't realize there were a lot of expert bad boy biker comedians on here as well. Please feel free to close this thread, Ignacio...

    Sliders and Air Flow

I searched the forum for info on this and found nothing, so here goes. Got some Motovation sliders for XMAS and was wondering about the effect these have on air flow around the bike. I know from experimenting with other bikes that even seemingly minor changes at the front or sides of the bike...

    FJR- A real Bike

My wife actually prefers the FJR (I put a PCA backrest on it for her) to our Harley. She likes sitting up higher; says she can see more. As to the FJR itself, it's proving to be the most perfect all-around bike I've owned in over 35 years of riding.

    Far Western Tavern RTE

My wife and I are in—just sent the email RSVP. It's just up the road from us. Looking forward to meeting some of the CA riders.

    Kawasaki Versys

Not available in CA as it has no evaporative emmisions control (no place to put the cannister).

What's wrong with the FJR Windshield system

I agree with TWN that this is very much an individual issue. I've not had my '06 for very long, but I've been very happy with the overal weather protetion. It was a bit noisy with the stock shield and my HJC modular, but I added a Laminar Lip (I've used them before) and that dropped the noise...

    Playing with tire set-ups

Pilot Power on front, Pilot Road on the rear. 39/41. Very smooth and feels very connected to the road.

    Half a century for TwoWheelNut!!!

I thought I was old when I turned 50 . . . but that was 17 years ago. Now I am old, but don't think so. Go figure. Anyway, happpy birthday from an almost neighbor to the north of you.

    NAFO, Dates & City Secured!

On the calendar. Thanks to all for setting this up. It will be my first FJR meet.

    Opps

The entire sequence of this crash is on the internet somewhere. Into a corner too hot on too big a bike (wearing just a T-shirt, too), with too little possible lean angle. Unfortunately, this type of accident happens far too often. The most common cause of motorcycle fatalities in my area in the...

    New ECU Replacement:

Local dealer called today to say the ECU is on backorder status and they'll call when it comes in. They were told it wouldn't be long. Not a problem for me. I appreciate them letting me know.
