    Dropping The FJR and YOU

Never let the FJR all over, but I have scared myself a couple of times with the front brake. My first bike was a 98 Honda Pacific Coast. It had neat little tipover guards built in, so it could fall over with almost zero damage--and I let it fall a couple of times for the usual reasons...

    Rode it back from D&H

What!?!? You mean you skipped the 5, 50, and 200 mile oil change intervals? Sheew. That thing's prolly shot.

Some tee shirts I designed for the Bandit crowd...

The examples in your link look very "iron on". Jerry's T-shirts look authentic/

    Foam Padding By Radiator

Well that's good to know. I snatched it off about 5 miles from the dealer because it looked like "packing" to me. When only half of it ripped away, I figured "uh oh". I think the purpose of that little piece is to keep the fairing off the motor?

    SCAB DOWN!

I'm eventually going to make it to one of these "Alabama Group" rides. I hereby declare that I'm the slowest guy in the group, so y'all go ahead. I'll pull up the rear, and see you at the next stop--if I get there in time. I will have the widest chicken strips in the group, and I will be...

    More FJRs going down?

Yet another rider goes down, the cause still unexplained (another thread). I thought it inappropriate to ask there. No one else saw the accident, we can only speculate. If I read it right, they'd split in to two groups: the "slow" and "not so slow." And this accident happened in the "not...

Wearing the right gear saved me from massive injury

So it was another rider? Was it a big group ride? Did you know the person behind you? I've read safety books where these large group rides with people you barely know are some of the more dangerous events. Just wondering about the circumstances. Thanks for sharing your story, and I'm glad...

    AE Rider Down in MO

So, was it too much speed? Less traction than was expected? We talk through these things but often don't really get a root cause. I'd like to take something away from these very personal stories. Sounds like the rider's gonna be OK . . and that's a good thing.

    6th gear?

I've had this thought with other bikes I've had, but not the FJR. The thing is damn near idling at 75 mph.

    More FJRs going down?

I've certainly had that thought. There have been a couple of times in a turn where the throttle has caught me off guard a bit. Most of the time I was making a mistake--carrying too much speed, forcing me to make adjustments mid turn instead of smoothly accelerating all the way through--but when...

Carbon Fibre Tank Protector Group Buy 15% Off

I wonder how much it costs to have a tank repainted? I wonder how much it costs to get a brand new tank?

    Waving Etiquette

I like this thread. Nobody's mentioned: - the proper wave technique 1 one or two fingers off the grip? 2 arm out and low 3 arm straight out 4 the "black power" salute - how to recover when someone has "left you hanging." The two are related. The wave techniques are in increasing order...

    hard grips

+1 Grip Puppies are cheap, and they add a little bit of girth to the grips. And girth is always good.

    Dec Ride

Depends on logistics. Would this be a day trip? On a Saturday? Spending the night?

Do you cover your bike, and if not, why not?

+1 on this. Perfect fit, even with the bags on. Inexpensive too.

    F1 and USGP in Indianapolis

Yes, we've already said we'll go by way of Deal's gap. It's a one day boring trip by I65, but we've decided to make it a two-day sight seeing jaunt. I'll print this off and look for those other roads, too. Thanks for the suggestions!

    F1 and USGP in Indianapolis

What are you comparing this to? NASCAR?!? Indy? Champ Car? I like the spectacle. I understand there's more overtaking, etc, in a series like MotoGP, but anyone can buy an R1 and feel like they're part of the show. I got a lot of love for the MotoGP and AMA guys, but there's also something...

    F1 and USGP in Indianapolis

I went last year, but took my little boy. I would be interesting in making a Motorcycle weekend out of it this year. It's June 17th (Sunday) this year, but practice/qualifying is on Friday and Saturday. Anyone interested? Alabama riders? I know this is "regional" but it's also race related . .

Skyway's "Tipover" guards. Probably a best seller, at least.

Yamaha Top Case vs. Givi Top Case

+1 on the factory box. After I saw one at Biketoberfest, I knew I wouldn't get the Givi (if I got one at all). I had the Givi before on a different bike--top shelf stuff, but the Yammi box "looks" like an JFR box. The Givi's are rather rounded and bulbous, unlike the sharp angles on the rest...
