    KTM; advice on buying

I am looking into buying a 2003 KTM 450 EXC dual-sport to keep the FJR company. It looks very clean with 3300 miles on it, but I know nothing about KTM. So I was wondering if anyone has any input for me on thing to consider about this brand. I would be replacing my aging 84 XL350. The seller...

    Fieldsheer riding gear?

Just want to let everyone know my suit arrived last Thursday. I wore it to work Friday and gave it the test on Saturday. I went for a 4.5-hour ride into the mountains; high was 61 and low was 41. I was very happy with the fit, it was comfortable on my ride and I wasn’t to cold or to warm, I took...

    Fieldsheer riding gear?

Thank you for all you input, I ordered one Sunday. I went one size over and they said if it doesn’t fit send it back for a different size. I ordered it from motorcyclecloseouts.com for $199.00 plus $10 shipping. They seemed nice on the phone, I hope all goes well. This will be my first one-piece...

    Name That Farkle

I would guess it’s a steering lock anti-theft device. Or a laptop holder, so you could surf the net while you drive.

    Fieldsheer riding gear?

I should be a large, according to their sizing chart.

    Fieldsheer riding gear?

Was the sizing close to what you thought it was going to be? I read in some past posts that there were size issues.

    Fieldsheer riding gear?

I'm doing a search and finding a lot of my questions answered. Probably didn’t need to start a new topic.

    Fieldsheer riding gear?

I was wondering if anyone could give me feedback on Fieldsheer riding gear? I am looking at their one-piece cyclone textile suit. Just wanted any input into the quality and fitment, or if anyone has had an issue with them. Doesn’t have to be that particular suit. Thank you Steve

I now have three color options for my KLR

When it come time for tires, a wise man once told me. "Stay away from Michelin PRII's. They are shit off-road" Enjoy the hell out of it. Just keep it shiny parts up.

2009 KLR650 on the showroom floor

If you can swing it, go for it. I love my dual sport and couldn't live without one. I can’t live without the FJR either. The hardest part of the day is which one to ride. My 2 cents.

    dual sport tires

Thank you for the info CAJW, and hello back. Thank you Uberkul also for your input. I would like the Dunlops for the trails but for me half the fun is getting there. There is about 20 to 45 miles of twisty fun between me and the dirt. I would also have to say I am a bit more aggressive on the...

    dual sport tires

I think your right on the balance of the tires, that and the tires are shot. They were never real smooth though, but that’s compared to street tires. I like the Pirelli MT21’s they look like they would be better at the edge of the tire on the road. If they handle well on the dirt, that’s what...

    dual sport tires

Hello everyone, I’m looking for dual sport tire recommendations. I know some of you ride dual sports as well. I have a Honda 84 XL350R and I ride it mostly on the street but I love to go into the mountains and ride on the trails.. I’m running cheap 50/50s now and they are rough on the road. I...

    Question, where to buy parts

Hello all, besides my FJR I have a 1984 Honda XL350R that needs top end work . I was wondering if anybody had a place they recommended for parts. I know there are better places to get them than my local dealer. It’s going to need valves, valves springs and seats for sure, possibly a new timing...

CA to WI, Route advice needed.

I wanted to give an update on my cross country ride to Wisconsin. I decided to go straight there; no stopping other than for gas, food and sleep. I took I-15 through Vegas then I-70 through Denver. The views were fantastic through Arizona, Utah and Colorado. Then I -76 to I- 80 was very...

CA to WI, Route advice needed.

I will be entering the Southwest corner of Wisconsin and then on to the Madison area. I also have a family reunion near Milwaukee to go to. I have two weeks off of work but a lot of family and friends to visit, so I will try to make good time. As for how long I can sit, I will find out in a...

CA to WI, Route advice needed.

I need some advice for a trip I have coming up next week. I will be traveling from the Central Valley (Visalia) CA to WI on my bike. My question has to do with routes. I have lived here under two years and this will be my first trip back. Weather will play a role in which way I go. But I’m...
