    Fuel Injector sticking

Trial and error. I think I started at 3/4 turn and worked my way out. I was looking for a setting which put me in the right vacuum ballpark and gave me a good deal of idle adjustment, up and down. Dan

    Fork Oil Weight

The Belray 7 is significantly heavier than the OEM fluid. I had it in and found it too heavy. Knowing the "viscosity dance", I went down to Belray 5, using the 7 as a base from which to adjust. The front end of my bike works much better now. YMMV. Dan

    Getting rid of sticky stuff

Spray mosquito repellent, with a high Deet content. Will also take magic marker off aluminum siding. Makes you want to not think about what it does to your skin. Dan

New Hampshire cracks down on loud motorcycle pipes

Interestingly, North Hampton is the home of one of the area's largest and swankiest Harley dealerships. The loud traffic in and out of that place on the weekends is incredible. Dan

Audiovox Cruise Control Stopped Working, any help?

Check all the electrical connections first. If you find nothing wrong there, then you can start tearing into it some more. As you know, gronding can be an issue here. Dan

    Fuel Injector sticking

It's easy for those bleed screws to get messed up if you're "chasing" a certain vacuum number. I usually gently seat them all and open them all up about 1 1/4 turns before starting a TBS. Then, try to leave Number 3 alone. I never have any difficulty getting at least 240mm. Trying to get to...

The Universe has done me a solid!

Good for you. Bring your raingear this weekend. I think you are going to need it. Also, head for the hills, not the beach. Dan

    Fitting in..

Sometime soon there will be another breakfast ride in NH/MA. Watch for it and join us. Dan

Intermittent loss of power at high speed

You might not lose power to everything. My bet is that you are so busy while the engine is cutting out that you don't have time to do a detail inventory. The spider bite causes you to lose ground. Some circuits remain grounded and completed while others go incomplete. When S4 goes...

The 2nd Annual Maine Chowdah Run

Sounds like it was a good time, despite the crummy weather. My car ride back and forth to West Kill was in constant rain also. There were times when I had to turn the heater on to keep the windshield defogged. Oh, the privations. Dan

No longer starts -- dash lit up

Lift the tank, remove T-bar and heat shield. Look at S4 (front left of engine bay) and see if wiggling it changes anything. Look first to see if it's burned. If so, don't bother wiggling. Dan

    Removing the Relay Arm

I didn't look carefully enough yesterday. The front pivot point of the relay arm is still attached to the frame and you can't get the pivot bolt out without removing the center stand. Nothing else to do but hang the bike and get that center stand off. You can loosen the front two center stand...

    Mirror washers?

The compression washers they are talking about make up part of the mechanism that allows the mirrors to pivot and be swung inward. They have nothing to do with mounting the mirrors to the frame. Dan

    Removing the Relay Arm

Damn, Talk about a lightbulb turning on!!! Especially if your doing maintenance on all that stuff back there, anyway. Removing the swingarm would be much easier than fighting with the center stand and exhaust - at least the first time, ubtil you get those centerstand bolts reversed. OTOH...

    Removing the Relay Arm

Removing the four exhaust system bolts will allow you to move the exhaust system down far enough to clear the front two center stand bolts (yes, when you put them back do it from the inside outward). You really have to lean on the exhaust system to pry it downward. Either get a helper or be...

The 2nd Annual Maine Chowdah Run

I wish you all a good weekend. Although I hate it, I'm taking the car down to West Kill, NY. It's a family duty call and being rained on for nine hours so I can attend a memorial service is not my idea of a good time. Just remember, if it gets to be too wet, consuming vast amounts of...

'08 FJR Shutting Down W/O Warning

Now you really, really need to install an auxilliary ground harness. S4 will absolutely fail again, if you don't. Dan

    Tail Bag

Nelson Rigg also has a series of tail bags from somewhat small to huge. They can be configured with a number of different mounting systems. I have the CL150 (different number now) that expands to hold enough stuff for a couple of weeks. Take a look here...
