    Camping at NAFO

Oh man, sorry to hear you aren't going to make it. Where are you going on your trip? I'm also on a big trip from Key West to Alaska, maybe we'll cross paths.

    Camping at NAFO

Hey wherever you end up Ross let me know, I definitely want to camp. Or if you decide to go soft I'll split a room with you. Could be more fun/convenient that way, but I'm up for either. Andy

MegaWatts has started his Epic Journey to Alaska!

Here's an update I posted in my original thread, but I'll be posting the rest of my reports here. I'm currently in Denver and will be here a few days visiting various friends. For some reason a lot of them seem to live out here. In any case it's great to be out west--more open space, mountains...

DC to Alaska via Key West

Hey guys, thanks for all the interest, I really appreciate it. Like gixxerjasen discovered, my thread kind of got split in two. To keep it simple I'll be posting everything over here: Other Thread A quick update though. I'm currently in Denver and will be here a few days visiting various...

Going to the Sun Road may open Friday

Thanks 7xray, this is very timely information for me. I'm on a trip from DC to Key West to Prudhoe Bay, AK. I'm currently in Denver and have been wondering about the status of the roads in Montana. I want to hit Beartooth Pass, Going to the Sun, and many other great high-altitude rides out...

MegaWatts has started his Epic Journey to Alaska!

In Tampa today. Rode about 450 miles from Key west yesterday--a beautiful ride through the FL Keys, the Everglades, and into Tampa. https://andytoalaska.blogspot.com

MegaWatts has started his Epic Journey to Alaska!

Yeah I managed to pull off the SS 1000, and Vic was my end point witness. It was so cool hanging out with you Vic and thanks for the hospitality. Vic even helped me clean up my bike a little. So the SS100 was more painful than I expected. I didn't get out of DC until about 8pm. I only got 250...

N/Line Dash - who's got one and what are you thoughts?

How far is your commute? I have highway pegs on my '05 and find that on long rides they help relieve stiff legs on long rides. When I'm on a long ride I usually just use them from brief stretches to change riding position once in a while, but cruise mostly on the stock pegs. How much do highway...

Which Ram Mount holder for Samsung Galaxy phone?

I've also got the X-Grip and a micro USB charge cable for my DROID RAZR. It's very solid and easy to put the phone in and remove it. With the RAM mount, I've been able to adjust the whole setup to use the video camera on my phone to get some riding videos. I have a question though for everyone...

DC to Alaska via Key West

Went on my first test ride this weekend in preparation for my Alaska trip. I wanted to load up the bike with all my gear and go camping, just to check things out. I was also hoping for some rain since I know I'll run into it on my trip. I got a really late start on Sat, leaving my house in...

DC to Alaska via Key West

Yeah, I saw that in the NFO forum...I would like to make that happen if possible. I'll be in the neighborhood, just a little too early. I've never been to one, so I may see what I can do. Looks like fun although I have no idea what happens there.

Yes! That's what I like to hear. It means staring at Google Maps all day wasn't a total waste.

DC to Alaska via Key West

Yeah that's a good suggestion. I'm putting new Michelin Road Pilot 3s on this week. They're new to me plus I've never ridden with the load I'll be carrying, so I have no idea how far I'll get on those, but I'm hoping all the way.

DC to Alaska via Key West

Well, there's a little bit of a back story. I drove a '95 Sportsmobile camper up there in 2010 and left it on a friend's property, so this trip is to go back and sell it. I figure that could take a month, who knows. So, I might have time to ride back, but the shipment option is nice to have as a...

DC to Alaska via Key West

Hey everyone, I'd like to introduce myself, as I am an FNG. My name is Andy, I'm 43, single no kids, and live in Alexandria, VA. I bought a used 2005 FJR with 1,000 miles on it and have about 30k miles on it now, mostly from commuting and some weekend trips to WV. My first long trip was to Key...
