EPA wants to increase ethanol to 15%

Pure ethanol only has 70% of the energy (BTU's) that straight petroleum gas does. So if your using 15% ethanol, you'd have to richen up (~12%?) to get the same BTUs (power) as pure petroleum gas....

EPA wants to increase ethanol to 15%

Badness #1: Look at page 3-14 in the FJR Owner's Manual: "Gasohol containing ethanol can be used if the ethanol content does not exceed 10%." All of the Owner's Manuals on the vehicles I've purchased in the last 20 or so years have this or a similar statement has been in all of them. In other...

EPA wants to increase ethanol to 15%

Submitted mine. Thx for the heads up. It's not great (non-English major), but if anybody wants a copy to use as a template for theirs, let me know....

    Is this a good deal??

He wanted info on AE's, not A's From Yamaha: "# For 2008, the FJR1300AE gets a new ABS system, new scratch-resistant hard windshield coating, a new windshield bracket design, new grips, new clutch and transmission design and refined electric-shift lever design for even more convenience." Only...

    Russell v. Corbin

With the Corbins I've had on my touring/sport touring bike, there was no problem putting in 10-12 hour days in the saddle...or longer, if necessary. I don't spend $500+ on seats to just clean and gaze at them; they gotta be comfortable too. And, as mentioned before, the good looks is another...

    Russell v. Corbin

Thanks for the writeup. I am in the process of deciding and am about to order a Corbin. I have Corbins on two of my other bikes. They have worked well for me. I'm a bit "inseam challenged" and, from what I've read, the Corbin will be the better choice. Also, I like how it looks on the bike. I...

    I guess I'm getting old

What? Another old phardt on two wheels roaming around the the woods and lakes up here? I've been riding since 1970. Jeeze, that's almost 40 years!

    Dunlap Road Smarts

I lucked out about 6 weeks ago on Ebay and and got a set of Roadsmarts $154 including shipping. Also scored on a pair of Qualifiers (not my favorite, but the price was good) for $134 including shipping.

Opinions on stock seat (Gen II)

On longer rides, the stock seat doesn't work for me either (5'8", 210). I bought a new Yamaha Gel/Comfort seat and found that it isn't the answer for me either. Will be putting it up for sale soon. I'm currently looking at the aftermarkets and will probably end up ordering a Corbin as I like...

    Which battery?

I haven't had to replace the battery in my FJR yet. Hopefully, it will last another 2-3 years (at least), but I have bought (and use) Odyessey batteries. Good batteries! There is one in my BMW that I bought in 2003 (bought it for less than the BMW replacement would cost) that's still going...

    Corbin Seat

Good looking seat. :D I've had(/got) Corbins on two of my bikes (BMW & Ducati) and have had good experiences with them. Have tried the Yamaha Comfort/gel seats and they didn't work for me. Current plans are to sell those soon and ordering a set of Corbins. One question: Did you notice and...

    Yamaha`s better kept secret

Good thread. Lotsa good ideas and theories... I bought my FJR last spring. I was currently riding my old trusty '94 BMW R1100RS and an '06 Roadliner S, but wanted a more spirited option. The Beemer and Roadliner run well, but a performance hole in my lineup needed to be filled (my...
