That sounds a lot like what happened with the ST1300 from Honda. If you liked silver or black, you were good for a few years! And I switched over for the more advanced engine and features of the FJR several years ago.

A lowering kit not only will allow you to flat foot the bike at stops but is also reversal. Just be sure to keep the bars when you install. Any new owner, if you sell, could then replace the lowering kit. It is a great feeling to be able to put both feet down on a 32.5" bike with a 30" inseam!

You could replace the 1" with 2" risers from a couple of different manufacturers. Might need to increase some cable lengths however. My previous one had a one inch set and I preferred that position to the stock one, like on my current 2019. Just haven't; ordered a set yet. With the 1" you don't...
