    Windscreen shimming

I don't think shimming a stock shield is going to get a person that's 6'2" what you likely want. Even if you grab another partial inch with shimming, your shoulders will still be out. I'm 6' 3" and tried Cee Bailyey's, Calsci, and found the Rifle +2 to be the right amount of coverage, but the...

    2024 FJR1300 Announced - No Changes

Gunny! I had penciled in a "black/gold" into my own personal budget. Many quatloos saved!

    Yamaha FJR Pannier Loose Solution

Look at the links Rosskean posted two post above for the best answer available....which is that we don't have record of somebody doing it before. If you try, let us know!

    2024 FJR1300?

It's official. There's a 2024 in the U.S. once again and no changes from the previous year. Use this thread for discussion. https://www.fjrforum.com/threads/2024-fjr1300-announced-no-changes.181405/

    2014 FJR1300A Broken Fork Damper

Then you roll your dice and move your mice. Or, I'm guessing another person that's actually rebuilt forks or knows the fiddly bits of assemblies may come along....as I don't know this one.

    2014 FJR1300A Broken Fork Damper

Look at the part number of the two years on the fiche of OEM or Partzilla and compare. Same part number? Then it will work for sure.

What is this, and where does it go?

Welcome to the one thing mentioned literally hundreds of times on the forum that people can't seem to find nor reasonably search for in advance. I'm sure it's in the New Owners Read this, but not the easiest to find. And it also is sitting there with no label, not secured to anything, as if...

More RPM vs speedo but different...maybe

In 2005 when I got my first FJR I thought the engine was more like an electric train and has been one of the smoothest and highest output motorcycle engines I've had. The decent horsepower and linear torque make it more like you're turning a knob and wherever you turn it to...it goes nearly...

More RPM vs speedo but different...maybe

Any gear, any speed, and any RPM as long as it's not red-lined or lugging. Simple.

    overfilled oil?

1/32" = 0.031 inches. 1 cm = 0.394 inches. Did you mean 1 mm for the metric version? If so, I wouldn't worry in the slightest about it assuming you measured while on the centerstand and not the sidestand.

    Shopping for Seats

The ending first: Get a Russell Day Long. Otherwise, I did what you talked about with a seat pad first and it helped a tiny bit. I tried a Rick Mayer custom, it was better yet, but sent it back twice, and it never got to be what I needed. Then I got a Russell and all was well. You can sit...

    03 Won't Start

This is the one I was trying to remember versus the spider in Gen 2s. Agree it's possible. https://www.fjrforum.com/threads/ignition-siwtch-failures.108887/

    US ECU in a rest-of-the-world 2009?

I don't know the answer directly, but some thoughts more more research: Did you compare actual part numbers? While it wouldn't do anything if they're different-- you might get lucky and if they're the same numbers across the pond that would very likely affirm they're interchangeable. Or does...

    RIP ionbeam - 10/7/23

So sad to hear this. He started the forum a few days before me and loved his depth of knowledge and easy-going style. And perhaps the highest praise I can possibly give on a motorcycle forum, I actually liked it and learned thing when HE talked about oil.

    2024 FJR1300?

No. Only Yamaha knows for sure and they won't say until it happens..or presumably that it won't. And to be accurate, the FJR was retired in various markets several years ago ostensibly because of Euro emissions changes. It has continued in North America and several other markets. This is also...

    FJR TECH.COM

To be clear, it was moved to FJRTech.net and the other .com isn't active at all...long story with the domain name renewal. As for it not being under development, that's likely a polite way of saying the 20 year old web code or hosting system (he used ColdFusion) has been retired and/or insecure...

The WHY NOT 2023 is a reality!

I wish I could have stayed Saturday, but tickled to have a great dinner and share a beverage or two with great FJR peeps. Thanks so much for organizing this!

The Why Not 2023 - Registration, Dinner and Shirt Orders- 7/19/23 UPDATE - WITH FREE STUFF!

Thanks for the update. I'll be coming down Friday afternoon riding my '14ES that escapfjrartist setup for the guy I bought it from used. Wondering if I'm blasting down I-84 or will have time to catch a good road to get there. What time is dinner? Looking forward to catching up with some old...

    Givi

I'm not aware of any Givi that fits the stock tail piece directly. You either need to add a plate on top or swap out the piece with a different Givi-compatible rack. Try searching on "SR 357" to see threads about the optional plate. If you want to mount directly to stock tail piece you're...
