    Just finished first ride..

Ok, I understand you're new and all ;) but give a few weeks of riding and you'll find 137 miles from Ayden to Oak Island is NOT "a significant trip". Most FJR-ers will ride that far for an ice cream cone, not even a real meal, then ride home. Really, I remember when I thought 150 miles was...

    Just finished first ride..

Welcome, from just up the road by the NC Zoo. I nearly ended up at Skylight Inn BBQ Saturday. Landed on Oak Island instead.

    Gen2 headlight adjusters stripped

I think the first thing I'd do is try to home in to where the problem is. I'd unscrew the cable from the back of part #5 and turn the cable with a pair of needle nosed vise grips. This would point me to which half of the system I need to investigate.

    Fatter Grips

Yep. Be sure to cut the ends OUT and not OFF. They'll fit fine that way.

Headlight adjusters: do they do anything?

If at night you pull up on level ground to the dark side of a building and adjust the knobs, you should see the sharp cutoff of the headlight beam move up or down. If you don't either something is wrong mechanically or the headlight may already be so far out of adjustment high that it looks...

    Touring windscreen or clip on

My favorite windscreen is also Cee Baileys, I have them on my '07 and my '13. I'm not a clip-on guy, too cluttered looking. You can try the Yamaha touring screen but I found it wasn't much better than the stock one. V-Stream middle and tall are ok but too narrow for me. You may hear of...

    Touring windscreen or clip on

What I recommend above anything else is you tell us the model year you are riding. Having owned two different Gen's, I can tell you- it DOES make a difference. The air flow and management is completely different on them.

    Gen2 headlight adjusters stripped

Specifically, take a close look at #5. They are easily broken and the cable will come loose, behind the panel. I've replaced several over the years. The '07 owners manual gives good instructions for removing panels. If you don't have one, it can be downloaded for free here ->...

    Fatter Grips

I like Pro Grip 714. A little bigger than OE but much softer that helps squelch some handlebar vibrations. I install a pair and ride for a yr. Next spring I rotate them 180 degress. Then the next yr I replace again. I went to my local drug store and asked the little girl there for a travel size...

Steering Head Roller Bearing - Upgrade or Boondoogle?

Interesting indeed. Just reinforces that not all bikes are the same. My '07 had the decel wobble from day 1 and zero miles. I had little to no relief with tire pressures, different tires, suspension settings, bearing repack & retorque, fork/front wheel torque sequence, fork service or...

2016 headlamp adjuster knob set screw - help

His is a 2016. The Gen3 is constructed differently. The knobs MUST be removed. I found my 2013 can be a PITA too. I have to wiggle the knob up & down ever so slightly. It might help if you install the screw into the backside of the threads without the knob in place. This might clean up the...

LED H4 upgrade for 2013 Gen III — any Update?

My big problem with other than headlight bulbs is that LEDs don't hold up to the vibration. I've destroyed LED flashlights just by having them in vehicles, 2 of the expensive "heavy duty" ones on the bike. Smaller bulbs like signal and brake I've removed, Gorilla glued back together &...

Where do you buy your oil change kit from

    Isn't M1-110 a Mobil 1 designation, not Bosch?

    Damn You 'Busa

Only 127? it can do better than that.

Stuck on Rear ABS Bleed Procedure

Does the rear brake bleed properly? Doing it might help push some air out.

    Garmin Zumo discount

Yoose welcome! If you've been zooming in and tracing routes to find and move points this will surely make Base Camp a bit easier to use.

    I miss NEPRT every spring.

Incriments On The Fjr Temp Gauge

You have eloquently described exactly why I prefer the Gen2 readout over the Gen3's. Thanks!

    Garmin Zumo discount

A simple way- double click your route name in the bottom left box. Tick the Center of Map box. Now as you scroll down thru your points, you will see maximum magnification of each individual point. Use the MOVE edit tool as needed. Doing it this way you don't have to "follow" the route to...

    Oil filters size options.

Correct. Remember all the "OMFG! I'm gonna destroy my engine with 1/4" less oil filter! Aaahh!!!" LMAO. I miss NEPRT.......
