Stock Summer Shield Cuasing Too Much Buffeting!

I just went thru the measurement instructions on Cee Bailey's website. I purchased a Reverse Contour 21in (smallest they offer in Reverse Contour) high and +2 wide in clear. We'll see how much it helps in my specific situation. I'm hoping the extra 2in (stock is 19in) height w/ the lip at the...

Top / Adapter Plates for a Givi Monokey Top Case?

I am wanting to purchase the Givi E55 Maxia 3 Deluxe top case and have the following toprack and adapter plate: SW-MOTECH Alu-Rack Toprack (Yamaha FJR1300, '06-) SW-MOTECH Alu-Rack Topcase Adapter Plate (GIVI / Kappa Monokey) Will the above two toprack items work with a Monokey Top Case...

Stock Summer Shield Cuasing Too Much Buffeting!

Just to give a bit more definition of what I mean when I say buffeting, etc. ... The summer stock shield in the lowest position is the ONLY position I can use it in currently. The higher I raise it, the more wind that comes around and hits me from behind and is so forceful, I am unable to keep...

Stock Summer Shield Cuasing Too Much Buffeting!

I have a 08 FJR which is pretty new to me. After a recent 350 mile ride, my rear-end was absolutely fine with my new Rick Mayer saddle (no soreness or monkey butt whatsoever ... very happy!!) but my head, shoulders and writes were another story. Vibration is atrocious even with new heavy bar...

    Vibranator

My 08 FJR vibrates way more thru the handlebars than my VFR and I've even added the nicer bar ends to help w/ the problem. My hands are going to sleep way too easily on this bike. That's why I read thru this thread in fact. I finally did a decently long 2-up ride this past weekend -- 352...

    Installing the Magnum Blaster Horns

Thanks Training Pilot!! I think I'll go with these given no extra harness/relay is needed. Thanks for all the info!

    Installing the Magnum Blaster Horns

Thanks everyone! I do already have the low-tone horn, but still need to pick up the high-tone one. However, if there are some PIAA brand horns that do not need the relay, then I'll attempt to find those here on the forum. If anyone has a link to those specific PIAA horns that do not require a...

    Installing the Magnum Blaster Horns

I found the great instructions from fjrtech.com thank goodness! I'm not that much of a gear head, but can usually figure these kinds of things out. My real question is this ... do I need to install any extra wiring and/or a relay when hooking up both Low and High tone horns to a 2008 FJR? It...

    Options for Installing AVCC?

Hey extrememarine! Thanks very much for the offer. I may have to take you up on it if I want the AVCC compared to the Vista Cruise and Breakaway types of controls.

    Options for Installing AVCC?

I found some instructions online regarding the installation of a AVCC on a FJR. I have to admit, I'm not sure I want to tackle something like that. Replacement headlights, horns, rear lights and oil changes are about as far as I go. Thoughts and options for finding someone/someplace to...

    Lowering the front-end

Bucky ... you are so right. The front wheel did not need to be removed. I wasn't fully aware of that, however, until I had it all dis-assembled. Uggh. What a hassle. Well, now I know. Hopefully, for folks searching and finding this topic though .... you do NOT need to remove the front...

    Lowering the front-end

nevermind ... I simply left it at the 1/2 inch and re-assembled the front-end. Wow, VERY easy to scratch the rims w/ the brake calipers when going from side to side slowly tightening them up. One side fell out of sink a bit and as I was tightening the other side up a bit, the other one bit...

    Lowering the front-end

Okay, I have the front wheel off ... what a pain compared to the VFR! But, it is off now. Both upper and lower pinch bolts are loosed on the left side. Now, I've raised the left fork tube up in side the triple as far as possible. But, it appears to only be about 1/2 inch due to the black...

Thanks for the heads up guys .. that makes much more sense. I'll give it a shot this evening.

    Lowering the front-end

I just tried using compression straps and ratcheted the handlebar triple crown 'down' toward the ground/front tire, but that only compressed the forks, it did not move the forks inside the clamps whatsoever. Any hints on how to move the forks up ... is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Brian

    Lowering the front-end

Thanks for the info ionbeam. Should I simply be able to push down on the handlebars for the fork tubes to slide up? If so, for some reason, they aren't moving. Here is a photo as to how they look now. You can see the 'clean' part of the fork tube that makes it look like the tubes moved down...

    Lowering the front-end

The fork tubes are going down it appears, not up, on their own. Do I need to rig up something to do compression to push the front-end down the fork tubes?

    Lowering the front-end

I know this should be simple, but I've never lowered the front-end of a motorcycle before. I just installed the Soupy lowering links. Now, I'd like to lower the front-end based upon what everyone has stated on this forum. I assumed I simply loosened the hex bolt at the top outside of each...

Side Stand Options when Lowering the FJR

That I'm not sure of yet. Right now, I have barely tippy-toes on both sides touching at once. I have a 28.5in inseam. But, I have a Penske shock on it (came with it) and a Rick Mayer saddle coming. I think the saddle will end up raising me a 1/4 to 1/2in I'm afraid. My hopes is to lower it...
